I was a certified paralegal early in my life and was talking to a very high-powered family law attorney in Houston. He told me that his speciality brought the highest hourly fee (it was in the $600/hr and this was in the '80s) because it dealt almost exclusively in emotion, i.e., custody of children and division of property and cash. People will pay almost anything to put it to the other spouse.

I guess we have finally found another purely emotional specialty to enrich the lawyers.

"Carbon Credit trading schemes are potentially hundred of billion dollar business, which accomplishes nothing except to shift money from one person to another. Al Gore will be a very rich man once the Democrats or McCain implements this stupid system."

Part of the pay-off to Al Gore to stay out of domestic politics.

Almost every top tier law firm in NYC is charging at least $700 an hour, and that doesn’t including associate lawyer and paralegal charges by the hour too.

Not that I can see on the surface. But I'd love to see the client list and names of projects... we'd probably find the businesses who are lined up to perpetuate the global warming scam:

Attorneys also advise private-equity firms and hedge funds on clean-energy projects.

"Is it Junk Science, or is it Junk Lawyers perpetuating the AGW hoax? That is the question."

Same old story. Like the tobacco settlement, just another billion dollar extortion racket for the trial lawyers.

“Same old story. Like the tobacco settlement, just another billion dollar extortion racket for the trial lawyers.”

uh-huh. I recently had a conversation with a guy who compares the oil and energy producing companies to the tobacco companies. You see - we are all *addicted* to oil, (like we are addicted to food, water, and air)
-And BIG oil is supposedly LYING about global warming climate change.
-Hence the comparison.

Yes...and since they are responsible for OUR addiction,, and they are “lying about global warming Climate change, just like the BIG tobacco companies...they must now pay for their lies!!!
-and it will be the trial lawyers who will profit, along with AlGore types who are now heavily invested in carbon credit/trading schemes.

-Never mind that the oil and energy industry has done more then ANY other industry, to improve the quality and standards of life for billions of people.

Twenty of the top 100 highest-grossing U.S. law firms are billing as much as $700 dollars per hour for climate change work

That way they can afford the private jets and the limos.

"Twenty of the top 100 highest-grossing U.S. law firms are billing as much as $700 dollars per hour for climate change work that ranges from lobbying Congress..."

There *has* to be a name of these "lobbyist", somewhere.
Expose the lice to the light of day, plan an attack from there.

"...to helping clients finance clean-energy projects, according to Bloomberg."

Yea, again.

...who's the *client(s)*?

very good question!

By the way, check this out:

Report Released on January 30, 2008 U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee
U.S. Senate Report Debunks Polar Bear Extinction Fears

Canadian biologist Dr. Mitchell Taylor, the director of wildlife research with the Arctic government of Nunavut: “Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present,” Taylor said. “It is just silly to predict the demise of polar bears in 25 years based on media-assisted hysteria.” (LINK)

Evolutionary Biologist and Paleozoologist Dr. Susan Crockford of University of Victoria in Canada has published a number of papers in peer-reviewed academic journals. “Polar bears, for example, survived several episodes of much warmer climate over the last 10,000 years than exists today,” Crockford wrote. “There is no evidence to suggest that the polar bear or its food supply is in danger of disappearing entirely with increased Arctic warming, regardless of the dire fairy-tale scenarios predicted by computer models.” (LINK)

Thanks for the update, my friend.
Be interesting to see if more scientists pop up challenging this bullshit.

Problem is?
Like everything else under the pro-AGW'g umbrella? WTF does the truth have to do with *anything*, never-mind fact(s). ;^)

Love to hang around but it's time to deal with 16" of newly fallen snow. Much more forecasted throughout the entire day, too. Neglecting to plow it now and it'll be far too deep, too heavy for the 'Cat to push in spite of 4WD.

...how's THAT for Global Warming. {rotating index finger at temple}

Whether or not the oil and gas industries have improved the quality of lives of millions of people, that doesn’t justify paying for propagandistic science skewing to mislead people about the importance of climate change.

oh c’mon Cog.

There’s far more "propagandistic science skewing to mislead people" ...on the pro-warming side.

Lots of money to be made, too. just look at this article we’re posting on. $700 dollar per hour lawyers, dealing with “climate change”? That's evidence right there!!!

WHO are these lyer's, er lawyer's clients??? You can bet they are companies who are getting into cap and trade, carbon credit business in a BIG way. There’s lots of money to be made with this hysteria.
...People like AlGore...

Think about it.
