The two parties face similar circumstances. If McCain wins, the conservatives aren’t going to forgive-and-forget and WILL refuse to vote for him. Conversely, if Romney somehow pulls it out, the mindless followers of the Annointed One will stay at home and eat strawberries before they’ll pull the lever for Romney.
On the other side, of course, If Obama loses, there’s a good chance his followers are going to take it personally, and not vote for The Beast. If Obama wins, The Beast’s soul-less followers will probably jump ship and vote for him, since they have no morals or honor to begin with.
All in all, I’d say the RATS are in better shape than we are.

Maybe, but I don’t think freepers are necessarily representative of the Republican electorate. Romney voters will be upset if their guy loses, and the same goes for McCain voters (and I suppose Huckabee voters, though he never had a chance), but unlike freepers (like myself, damn McCain) I don’t think most voters care enough to hold a grudge.
