I’ll try to explain something that will help you both understand the people who do not agree with you and perhaps help you better prepare your points when you promote your candidate in the future.

Just to be crystal clear, I am not picking on you, nor am I angry or upset at your posts. You just happen to be the least offensive of the McCain supporters I’ve seen in the last few threads. This isn’t an attack or an insult, nor should you read it as an endorsement nor as an attack on your candidate.

First, you need to understand how McCain is perceived. He is not JUST perceived as having promoted many issues that are seen as outrageous. His betrayals of the conservative cause are documented, and very much resented - but these facts alone do not really tell you the full truth about how he is perceived by those who refuse to vote for him.

It never is about Hillary or Obama for these voters and trying to drag them into this at this point in time infuriates your opponents because you are not acknowledging the central issue.

The central perception of McCain is that he is wholly unfit to be considered as a viable candidate. In many eyes, sir, he’s just illegitimate. His candidacy should not even be recognized as anything but a mortal insult and affront.

Arguing his virtues is like talking about celery freshness during a wildfire. Comparing him to real conservatives sounds absurd to the ears of those who reject him. You are not talking about someone who CAN be considered a REAL conservative candidate in anything but a fevered delerium.

What I am trying to illustrate for you is the complete separation of the concept of “Candidate I am ABLE to vote for” and the concept of “Senator McCain”. It is the same as the concept of “Women I am ABLE to consider dating” and “Elton John”.

So, a lot of the arguments are falling on deaf ears. You are in essence calling us up every few hours to tell us how beautiful Elton John is in a bikini. How lovely his long eyelashes are as he parades in a silky dress and wouldn’t we want to date her.

You’re insistent we should gaze in awe at Elton John’s calves as he glides past in a dress and you can’t seem to understand why we’re laughing ourselves silly.

Oh, and to extend a metaphor to the stretching point, to the same voters, Obama is like Che Guevara in a Dress and Hillary is a Morlock from “The Time Machine”. Note that neither is a “Woman I can consider dating”.

LOL. Of course this begs the question of where the Log Cabin Republicans stand on McCain and, for that matter, Elton John?
