I need a lesson on some of these sayings/acronyms. What does *get bent* mean? What does FUBAR mean? And there’s too many more to type :) I thought I was up to date on the IM, text messaging shorthand but apparently not.

Allow me. Get bent means twisting male equipment at a right angle while in the ready position - sorry, but that's the cleanest description I can think of.

FUBAR is another nasty acronym of military origin. The clean version is Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition. Replace Fouled to get the dirty version.

I prefer the Freeper version of FUBAR that I coined recently (see my profile for others:

By the way, these all predate IM. I first heard “get bent” in the ‘50s.

I don’t know how to see a profile so lost there. But I get the military origin now. You’d think with all my current and family members either military or former military, I would have heard that one. I’m much better on the IM/text abbreviations (4 kids,gotta keep up).
