Huckabee Spokesman: Romney Decision Only Strengthens Our Campaign
WBBM Chicago ^ | Thursday, 07 February 2008

WBBM's Regine Schlesinger reports he sees this development stregthening Huckabee's position as he battles John McCain for the nomination.

David McAloon with the Huckabee campaign says while McCain has a formidable lead, he's not yet the nominee. In his words, "It's not over til it's over."

Now that it's essentially a 2-man race, McAloon believes Huckabee is in a good position to still wrest the nomination from McCain.

I’ve believed for the last year that the next Republican nominee will be the next president. I still believe that. McCain would be a hard pill to swallow. But he’s better than the Loony Tunes DEMOniCRATS.
Now it really doesn’t hurt to vote for Huckabee, right (”conspiracy” theories notwithstanding)? Huckabee has a better conservative record than McCain. His stand against abortion and “gay rights” is stronger than McCain, isn’t it?
McCain is scary when it comes to things like free speech and gun control. What about basic freedom of speech and border control and his collusion with Feinstein and Kennedy to oppose these? Aren’t these demonstrations of power-hungry contempt for Constitutionally-guaranteed free speech against politicians (like him)?

I’m sticking with Huckabee.

As Rush stated this morning, McCain no longer needs Huckibee.

Mike is in for a real bitch slapping over the next month or two. Mr. Popular is about to find out who his ‘big bud’ really is.

McCain may see him as VP chum, but who knows.

Go Mike!

Definitely preferable to McCain.

I hope Huckabee does get it. He’s a heck of a lot more conservative than McCain and was more conservative than Romney, who was rich enough to run a vanity campaign and cynical enough to announce that he was against things before he was for them, or something to that effect.

I think the press annointed McCain because he’s the closest thing the GOP has to a Democrat. And also because they know he’ll lose.

However, it ain’t over till it’s over. McCain is unstable and unpredictable, and I fully expect him to have a Dean Scream moment.

We’ll pretty much know Saturday. Huckabee has to win over 700 of 1170 ~ delegates left to force a brokered convention, nearly all of them to win outright.

I just never really understood Huckabee’s appeal. Perhaps it’s the ordained minister / talks-about-Jesus-in-political-speeches thing? Perhaps it’s that he has perhaps the best record on abortion and guns (which he does)?

For me, those good points are far outweighed by his fair-to-middling record on fiscal issues, his poor-until-2007 record on illegals/ amnesty, and his outright leftism on educational issues (endorsed by the NEA).

Huck is probably a decent guy, but in this campaign? he’s acted like he is surrounded by sycophants who spend 18 hours a day telling Huck how godlike he is. Huck seems to believe so.

“I’ve believed for the last year that the next Republican nominee will be the next president. I still believe that.”

MMMMM...that’s a loaded two statements. Just what basis do you have for your “belief”. Perhaps you would explain. If it is just a feeling or general strong nudge I would not go by that at all.

Huck would have to win over 60% of the remaining delegates to deny McCain the win. Romney still retains his delegates. He would have to win 90 % of the remaining delegates to win the nomination outright.

If this ignorant, malicious little goober ends up on the Republican ticket — in either spot — that will seal the deal. I will not vote.

I’ve believed for the last year that the next Republican nominee will be the next president.

Then you must not be paying attention to the primary vote totals, because the Democrats are way way way ahead. Cover your assets; President Obama and a liberal Congress are coming to get them early next year.
