Mike Huckabee described Romney succinctly: He looks like the guy that just laid you off, that blank, smiling, *sorry* guy who is already thinking of his three martini lunch as he shakes your hand and gives you ten minutes to clean out your desk. He looks as if his response to 9/11 would be to pick up a phone and dictate a memo to his *girl*.
Once I worked for a man like him. When our office was being evacuated due to a bomb threat on the floor below, my boss insisted that I remain at my desk and type his dictation, until the Managing Partner overruled him and hustled us both out of the building. Down on the ground my boss harassed the police with demands that his *girl* be alloweed back into the building to type his dictation until they threatened him with jail.
That is why I believe Romney lost: because his response in an emergency would be to force someone else to do research until the threat goes away.
That's a shallow judge of his character based solely on his looks. Actually he's the CEO who when a co-workers teenage daughter went missing shut down his offices and flew the entire staff to NY to look for her. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/245/ He and his sons also rescued some drowning boaters at Lake Winnipesaki. That's when I knew he was trying to be a little too "Reagensque". If anything his fault is just that he tried too hard.
This go around apparently the qualifications for Pres. are being a back stabbing liberal. He went down because he doesn't meet those standards. The Dinosaur media and DNC hit machine hit him more than any other candidate. They feared him the most and were able to get some Pubbies to believe their lies about him.
Words fail me. Your ignorance is astounding.
It is ironic that those same qualities that make CEOs successful make them appear inapproachable and emotionally detached. Mitt, the prototypical CEO never connected viscerally.
It is, imo, more ironic that the most popular candidate on the national stage, Obama, is the polar opposite of Romney...all personality, no executive talent. America's most important election has more in common with American Idol than Lincoln/Douglas.
Perhaps you and Mike can send out the memo as to who has the right "look" to be president now?
Obama?
That's an interesting bit of analysis. /s
Welcome to FR.
So what. Huckabee looks like a hillbilly. He has no gravitas whatsoever. I wasn't a Mitt supporter, but he looked and acted a whole lot more presidential that Huckabee.
This is a good example of why I never liked Huckabee. What a crummy little comment.
The man shut down an entire company, and chartered planes to fly his entire group of managers and staff to NYC to help find the lost 13 year old daughter of one of his company’s employees.
Your assessment of Romney couldn’t be further from the truth.
An analysis based on nothing.
So which of the candidates has the looks to get your vote?
I agree, this is why Romney lost, because people attached these absolutely ridiculous value judgements upon him with absolutely no valid basis. Pitiful, isn't it?
You know nothing about Romney, except that you are jealous of his wealth and success and therefor hate him.
Until recently, I thought all the class-warfare and wealth-haters were in the Democratic party.
Posting like yours made me realize that conservative Republicans also have their share of envious wealth-hating types.
Your comments about Romney are weird. Do you have any personal experience to back them up? I personnally spent over two hours with Romney when he visited our National Guard unit in Iraq. We flew him all over the place to meet all the Massachusetts troops deployed. If he was pulling an “act” of being gracious and polite and interested in what we were doing, he did a brilliant job. Our battalion commander and senior staff officers had lunch with him in our conference room He answred our questions for over an hour.
All in all, I was very impressed. He didn’t strike me as an above the fray rich guy at all. As a small business owner in civilian life I was especially interested in his thoughts on taxes and immigration. On both issues he hit home runs if you ask me. He eaned my vote that day. Despite the fact he never served in the military he at least had the sack to fly around the country with us under some dangerous conditions. I for one am sorry he’s out of the race. Maybe he’ll get a VP nod, we’ll see.
Your observations are nuts if you have nothing but what Hucklebee says about him as your “evidence”.
