allAfrica.com Somalia Somali Woman Tries to Hijack a Plane in New Zealand (Page 1 of 1)

(edit)

A passenger who tried to restrain the woman also sustained knife injuries.

The Somalian woman allegedly threatened other passengers and continued to wave the knife throughout the flight.

She was grappling with the aeroplane's controls throughout the flight, police said in a press conference late this afternoon.

It was only when the pilot bought the plane into land that rough conditions caused the woman to lose her footing.

At this point, police say the co-pilot then wrestled the woman to the ground.

(edit)

This is the first such bad act carried out by A Somali national, particularly a female ever since the Somalis began fleeing from their war stricken nation in 1991.

HUH???? The first attempted airline hijacking perhaps, but certainly not the first "bad act".

"She's an alcoholic and very unstable.”

,,, so deportation to where she came from wouldn't be a good thing. Getting stoned has a totally different outcome there.

Ocean view, as well...

,,, no, I was thinking of the Prime Monster's residence. Helen spends so little time in NZ anyway and she's big on diversity, so here's a test case with the up coming election and all.

Wikipedia says that Jetstream 31 has a range of about 680 Nautical Miles. After that, she would have to get out and walk.

That's with a full load. With 9pax the quoted range is 2130km (1150nm).

Wellington-Sydney (slightly longer than Blenheim-Sydney) is 2224 km.

So absent any significant headwind, it's possible

From the second linked video "....the woman is known to the local muslim community...."

They got me! My first suspicion is always Mohammedan nutjob, but the article had me thinking lone nutjob. Damn, they're good at what they do.

But it couldn't make the trip with the minimum fuel reserves for flying over water even with just 9 passengers.

Somehow I get the feeling that this woman may possibly not respect regulations concerning required fuel reserves.

She obviously took the late Sam Kinison’s advice and “moved to where the food is.”

...but in their defense they don't know for certain who's a victim and who's a perp in the initial moments...

You're right about that. Its an annoyance for sure, but the forces taking the plane have make sure that a bad guy isn't trying to sneak out as a "hostage".
