By unanimous vote of our principals, we endorse the candidacy of Senator John McCain for President of the United States.
Why? Because in spite of our preternaturally youthful looks...we're grown-ups.
Or, if you prefer...because America is more important than any one of us and our personal feelings.
Mitt Romney delivered an amazing speech at CPAC yesterday. He proved himself a noble, good, decent, patriotic man. He showed us all that he's a man we'll be seeing a lot more of down the road, and that we'll be lucky to have him.
There were a lot of specifics in his speech, but if you boil it down, he withdrew from the race for the same reasons that we have now endorsed McCain....
Mitt Romney is a grown up.
He's a patriotic man, and America is more important to him than his own feelings or personal ambitions.
Also...
He's a realist, and he knew that, based on his performance and the fact that all remaining contests were proportional, there was no way he could win.
He's a loyal Republican, and he knew there was nothing he could do by staying in but harm the GOP's chances in November.
He's a conservative, and he realizes that the best vehicle for conservatism has been, is, and will be for generations to come, the Republican Party. (Yes, the GOP has some problems right now with its wavering adherence to some principles, but that can be handled by continued engagement of its rank-and-file. Third parties don't work, won't work, and only serve as spoilers.)
If there were any doubt that the man is a conservative, it should be gone after that speech. He was never a flip-flopper. He evolved to become a conservative. NO ONE speaks with that much passion for and clear understanding of conservative principles...

But IMO he could still beat Hillary, she's so universally detested a dead dog would give her a hard time. But Obama is slick and the MSM are his cultists.
If the same could be said of McCain, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
THAT would make a great tagline.
Sorry, can't let this pass (and you might review my earlier post at #27); I won't vote for Hillary or Barrack and I can't vote for John McCain. He is a little bit better on one or two issues but I refuse to be dragged that far over to the "Left". He is not and never has been a Conservative and I can't vote for him. He also has a very "nasty" aspect when dealing with Conservatives (or even Conservative "Lites"). He was vicious to Mitt Romney for instance. When he deals with Hillary or Ted Kennedy, however, all is "sweetness" and "light".
I will vote; I will not "sit it out" but I'll vote for state and local issues. I may look at the 3rd party candidates but do not realistically expect one of them to get enough to beat out one of the other three. The Republican Party brought this on themselves by backing McCain when they knew that the Conservative Republicans and Independents could not support him.
There will be a price to pay for supporting McCain.
We can vote conservative on Senate and House primary seats, and vote for anyone other than McCain on the Presidential seat, including a democrat in the general election.
“Ive never seen people fall for a human being like this. But I will get to say I voted for the first African American President “
I was listening to WLS radio this AM out of Chicago. Don Wade said he was dissapointed with Rush on Friday when he said that a vote for Obama, Hillary or McCain was basically a vote for the same person.
The phones lit up. I would say 20 to 1 agreeing with him.
McCain has his issues, but all in all he’s been a good conservative. We should rally around him. We can’t afford liberal supreme court justices.
