Q: What about buying firearms? That's an open question. Homeland Security last month refused to rule out requiring Real ID for firearm purchases in the future.
When asked about requiring Real ID to buy a firearm, Homeland Security replied: "DHS will continue to consider additional ways in which a Real ID license can or should be used and will implement any changes to the definition of 'official purpose' or determinations regarding additional uses for Real ID consistent with applicable laws and regulatory requirements. DHS does not agree that it must seek the approval of Congress as a prerequisite to changing the definition in the future."
Q: Which presidential candidates voted for Real ID? All of them who were members of Congress at the time voted for Real ID except Rep. Ron Paul, a Republican.

IMHO, Real ID is going to be a HUGE headache for DMV offices across the country.
RealID...now that’s a concept looking for validation. Sorry, this one is purely unAmerican, unConstitutional, and the DHS assuming responsibilities beyond their mandate is clearly illegal.
Get out of my business. Get out of my home. Get out of my local school system. And get out of my Doctor’s exam room.
Couldn’t say it any better. I’d just add: “And stop buying up tons of state land and federalizing it.”
Q: Is there any chance that the next administration or Congress will roll back these requirements before they kick in?
It's a little early to tell. Obama and Clinton have both expressed some concerns about Real ID, while McCain enthusiastically supports it.
McCain is enthusiastic about everything BUT individual rights.
I know a lot of you will laugh at this, ask yourselves this, wasn't there a time when so much of what was once voluntary is now mandatory.
Isn’t this why we have a 2nd Amendment???
President McCain won’t mind inflicting huge enforcement headaches in pursuit of his statist vision. A case in point is CFR.
Real ID is huge threat to the Hispanics, so it will not happen.
On Super Tuesday the evening news’ most oft used phrase was:
“Its really up to the Hispanic vote”
Over and over it was used.
