Canadian folk rock legend Neil Young said he has lost all hope that music can change the world, as he presented a documentary about his 2006 anti-war concert tour at the Berlin film festival on Friday.
"I know that the time when music could change the world is past. I really doubt that a single song can make a difference. It is a reality," Young told reporters.
"I don't think the tour had any impact on voters."
But the silver-haired frontman of the sixties supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young nonetheless dealt US President George W. Bush a stinging, back-handed insult and said his own "naive" urge to make people think remains intact.
"What is wrong with George Bush? That would take a really long time. Let's talk about what is right with him, it is a much shorter answer.

Well, some of the stoned out rock and roll people in the ‘60s thought they were changing the world. There were some protest songs in the Vietnam era.
The hippie generation thinks that they changed the world and got us out of Vietnam and that the world is better because of that chain of events.
Why can’t these hippie freaks just die out already? They dirty our government, colleges, and airwaves like they are relevant or ever were relevant.
I am so over it.
Yeah! Be EXCELLENT to one another!
Since he is Canadian, I don’t put much value in his critique of Bush.
Sorry, FredHeads. I couldn't resist.
I don’t think Neil was ever the front man for CSN&Y. Having said that he is a “No blood for oil” nitwit who sounds like he plays lead guitar on a ironing board.
I never could stand his singing. It sounds too much like whining.
The vast majority of anti-war songs in the sixties came after the war protests had started. In the same way, "We Shall Overcome" was not the cause of the civil rights movement, but an anthem and reflection. Sad to think Young is soooooooo puffed up about his role - and soooooooo politically tone deaf.
Don't forget "Thrasher" from the Rust album. My favorite acoustic song by Neil.
Huckabee thinks it can. lol
Is that old rich fart still wearing torn jeans and tie-dyed shirts while he trades online?
He never had nothin’ on CCR
“....the motel of lost companions waits with heated pool...and bar.”
That’s why you rented out a restaurant for an evening for only you and your disciples including Eddie Vedder and his brainless cronies, right Neil? Teaching them how to push things to the left with their tens of millions and influence over the young.
I think all these 60’s icons coming out the last few years realize this war is their last gasp to create their socialist utopia in the US. Fortunately, their irrelevancy with the younger generations relegate to the Assheap of time. Though the MSM still gives them the 15 minutes because the Media dinasour cling to hope that their pathetic genereation can still make a change. It is sad and pathetic to watch! But I do enjoy it! 8^)
It was never here sugar pie.
Go stick your finger in a bowl of water and pull it out. See the hole it left? That is just how important your "music" was.
Now get over yourself.
Yeah. I keep thinking, "It took him HOW many years to realize this?"
LOL...thank you soooo much for that chuckle....I needed that!
I would like to buy the world a coke.
