Music Cannot Change the World, Says Neil Young

Sure it can. It can change semi-talented musicians into limousine liberals.

That rock concert/pep rally at Nuremberg 70 years ago got a lot of folks excited.

Yo, Neil. Constant pot smoking, LSD use and indiscriminate sex didn’t get the job done, either.

It’s funny, because even Crosby said, years ago, that his generation was naive and actually believed that smoking pot and singing would change the world. “And we couldn’t have been more wrong,” is what he said. Crosby is more mature than Young, to the n factor yet to be determined. What does this mean?

Hey Neil, Ten Years After had it figured out a long time ago.

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more?

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, Monopoly

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

World pollution, there’s no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

He is so wrong. Some of his electric stuff made the world noisier.

Canadian folk rock legend

He has dual citizenship. He's Canadian when it serves his purpose, American when it serves his purpose, mainly at tax time.

ROFL. How long did it take him to figure that out?

Though I still believe a karmic hug can fix anything.

"I know that the time when music could change the world is past. I really doubt that a single song can make a difference. It is a reality," Young told reporters.

Try not to judge everyone by your own failed example, Neil.

Canadian folk rock legend Neil Young said he has lost all hope that music can change the world

In other breaking news, my 4 year old has lost all hope that she can flap her arms and fly to the moon.

I don’t expect music to change the world; I just want music to entertain me. Effin idiots.

He might feel that way because he has a very distant relationship with “music.”

Pop music generally reflects the times. At best those not in the avant-garde of societal evolution can get some idea what is going on by listening now and then to the words.
