FLASHBACK 2005. Lets give a real Washington Welcome at todays caucus - by voting for another guy.

McCain tackles Boeing project
By Alicia Mundy

Seattle Times Washington bureau

WASHINGTON — The last time Sen. John McCain started questioning the cost and structure of a massive Pentagon contract in a Senate hearing, he was initially written off as a grump. But eventually, Boeing lost a $23 billion deal to lease tankers to the Air Force.

Yesterday, in a Senate hearing, McCain tore into the nation’s second-largest military program, called Future Combat Systems (FCS), which over time could cost $120 billion. This time Boeing and the Pentagon were hanging on his every syllable.

At stake is a $21 billion contract, of which Boeing, as prime contractor, gets the lion’s share. The FCS program is billed by the Pentagon as an “overwhelmingly lethal” weapons system integrating battlefield computers into one vast communications network. It supports 550 workers at Boeing’s Kent site and, according to the company, puts roughly $175 million into Washington state’s economy each year.

Agreed - wish I would have thought to add that to my post to his blog. Oh well, I suspect they got the message (if they read them)

IIRC that’s what he brags about in the debates when he talks about how committed he is against earmarks and saving money - - of course, he doesn’t mention Boeing by name.

As an employee of Boeing I take his actions very personal.

“I think I’m going to let my heart tell me who to vote for. Out of all the candidates still running or not, which one do I think comes the closest to my level of conservatism?. The one I feel would of made the best nominee, and that still is Fred.”

I was a FRedHead too and had to make my choice on Jan29th. Gave my vote to Romney as I saw him as the “next” best. If I were voting now I would vote for Huckabee, just to perhaps take some delegates away from McCAin. Just my opinion.

I still went and cast my ballot for Romney today at the KS caucus. Just for the heck of it. I see it as a protest vote.

My understanding it is called a caucus but it not like a primary because right?

I’m not sure. It’s not the type of caucus WV had. We had to sign in, listen to people speak about their candidates, and then cast a vote.

You might consider it an endorsement, but I consider it a “rally around the nominee” statement. An endorsement is a statement endorsing and using the words, “I endorse” so in so over someone else. Everyone says McCain IS THE nominee and Fred even in his statement talked about getting behind the Republican ticket. Fred would have done the same if it was Romney in McCain’s spot at this time.

Si ... county convention is toothless this year ... at least in King. You are going to have a convention for your Leg Dist if you are in King and I believe Pierce and Sno ... delegates to state will be from the LD caucuses. 5th LD caucus is 3/8 in Sammamish.

This state should change its name, as it is so far removed from the principles of George and Martha Washington.

Good for you! Its almost a done deal McCain will be the nom. If you vote for Mitt you won’t be wasting a vote, you’ll be taking a stand and sending a message.

I think everyone who was going to vote for Mitt, should do so anyway!

We just got back from caucusing in Lynden. We decided to make a protest vote as the state of Washington Republicans have had no opportunity to influence the candidate selection. It seems that with the Super Tuesday format 1/2 of the states have been left out of the process.

My 18 year old son, sister and I went to place a protest vote for Romney. (We used to be Fred supporters.) An interesting thing happened. When my son put Romney down he was told by the volunteer that he couldn’t vote for him as he has dropped out. He changed his vote to Huckabee. I talked with one of the officials and he was able to change his vote back to Romney.

My gut tells me hussein, bigtime. The Beast suddenly isn’t looking so scary, she may just lose the nomination. Obama had about 20,000 show up at a rally yesterday here in Seattle.
