Cold Halts Iran Gas Exports to Turkey

TEHRAN (FNA)- Cold weather has again forced Iran to stop pumping natural gas to Turkey, Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Guler said on Friday. "Bad weather conditions have had their effect. The flow of Iranian natural gas dropped and halted yesterday," Guler told reporters at a reception at the Iranian embassy.

"Our friends are holding talks to try to solve the problem."

A previous stoppage, also prompted by harsh weather, lasted three weeks before Iran finally resumed its gas exports to Turkey on Jan. 27. Iranian officials blamed that disruption on increased domestic demand sparked by the cold weather. "Our cooperation is continuing, we are trying to solve the technical problems. We need some time, there is mutual understanding," an Iranian embassy official said in Ankara. Botas, Turkey's state gas pipeline company, said the country was currently experiencing no problems in meeting demand, which it put at around 125 million cubic meters a day. Gas is continuing to flow via a newly opened pipeline to Greece, the official added. Greece was hit in a domino effect last month when Iran stopped pumping gas to Turkey. "If we need extra gas we will again turn to the Russians," the Botas official said. Russia and Iran account respectively for about 70 percent and 20 percent of Turkey's natural gas needs. Russia raised its supplies last month to meet Turkey's shortfall.

Riyadh, Feb. 9, SPA(Saudi Press Agency) -- Istiska (rain-seeking) prayers were performed throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia early Saturday.

Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, called the Muslims to perform Istiska prayers in cases of drought or delay in rainfall. in Makkah, the prayers were led by Dr Abdulrahman al-Sideis, the Imam of the Haram.

Speaking on the occasion, al-Sideis urged the Muslims to be God-fearing people, and the said disasters which inflict the people are due to their sins.

Underlining the importance of water and rainfall, al-Sideis urged the Muslims to live in line with the teachings of Islam. He underscored the importance of cooperation and solidarity among the members of the society, and said sincere efforts should be exerted for solving the problems of the poor people and making them happy.

Al-Sideis prayed to Almighty Allah to perpetuate his bounties and to make the hearts of the people full of belief and fear of Allah Almighty.

In the Prophet's Mosque of Madinah, Sheikh Salih al-Bideir, the Imam of the Prophet's Mosque, led the prayers. Speaking on the occasion, al-Bideir urged the Muslims to remain God-fearing people.

He said if the Muslims are keen on the rainfall, then they should repent and cease committing sins.

Al-Bideir said in cases of disasters, there is no way for the Muslims but to resort to Allah al-Mighty and ask his forgiveness.

I presume the Iman of the Haram is different from the Iman of the Harem. Perhaps they should ask the latter if they're looking for a flood.

For some relief from their emotional and physical miseries -They might want to start praying to the Lord Jesus instead of the moon god.

Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, called the Muslims to perform Istiska prayers in cases of drought or delay in rainfall.

Now that is completely wrong and uncalled for ... didn't the Algoracle call upon Istiska to pay for and buy some Carbon CreditsTM in case of drought or rain or tornados or hurricanes or warm or cold or ...... oh well, pretty much everything.

BUY your Carbon CreditsTM NOW ... operators are standing by.

So let me get this straight; it’s not the cold weather that is stopping the flow of natural gas to Turkey, but rather that Iran is diverting all of it to supply its own people in Iran.

It all started along the Iran - Turkmenistan border far from Iran's gas fields. Iran actually imports gas from the Turkmen for that part of Iran . . . .

"Although Iran possesses the world’s second-largest gas reserves after Russia, a lack of infrastructure has forced it to import gas in order to meet its domestic needs, especially in northern Iran near the Turkmen border. Under its current agreement with Turkmenistan, Tehran pays $75 per thousand cubic meters (tcm), roughly half of what Russia pays for Turkmen gas."

"Iran normally exports up to 30 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas to Turkey every day, while importing roughly 23 mcm daily from Turkmenistan. . . .<>The Iranian-Turkmen clash began January 1, when Turkmen gas supplies to Iran abruptly ceased. Originally, Turkmen officials attributed the disruption to technical difficulties, but it quickly became apparent that Ashgabat was disgruntled over the low price that Tehran was paying. The hard-line tactic backfired, however. Instead of rushing to the negotiating table, Iranian leaders responded to the Turkmen action by heaping invective upon Ashgabat, calling the behavior of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov’s administration 'immoral.'

"The two countries remain at an impasse, with Turkmenistan keeping the taps shut, and Iran refusing to negotiate until after the resumption of exports. The impact of the cut-off has been felt as far away as the EU. To try to compensate for the Turkmen cut-off, Iran severed its own exports to Turkey, which, in turn, found it difficult to meet its supply obligations to Greece.

"On January 27, Iran resumed exports to Turkey, though only at a level roughly 10 percent of that which flowed before the start of the Iranian-Turkmen feud. Meanwhile, experts believe it unlikely that Berdymukhamedov will bend anytime soon in his effort to hike the price Iranians pay for gas. Turkmenistan has succeeded in recent months in wringing higher prices for its gas out of both Russia and China, which on January 21 agreed to pay $195/tcm . . . ."

In a scorching hot desert
In a long distant past
Your prophet arose
And wanted to last

So he invented a god
And invented a book
Went on to seize power
By hook or by crook

Always by blood
Always by war
Your Mohammad killed millions
And millions and more

Your prophet is false
And your god he is phony
And your holy book is a bunch of baloney

So take the next camel out
And leave our fair land
We don’t want your prophet
And his Mein Kampf Koran

Turkmenistan cut off gas exports to Iran and left isolated Iranian villages without heat. It was a crisis and Iranians died from the cold. The Iranian gubbermint called the Turkmen gubbermint immoral

That got me laughing so hard. Muslims killing Muslims like they could care less by withholding natural gas. And in turn being called immoral. As if Islam has the first clue about what is moral and what isn’t. All religions preach the Golden Rule except for Islam. If Islam cannot even get those basics it will get nothing else
