I know, believe me, I’m with you. With a fine distinction. McCain is my next-to-last choice. I can’t escape the logical conclusion that it’s not possible to abstain. Disgusting as the choice may be, any vote other than a vote for the nominee is, objectively, a vote for the worst possible choice.

I’ve already seen the results of “teaching the pubs a lesson” in ‘92. The idea of living thru another eight years with those corrupt scumbags, and, even worse if that’s possible, their smug retinue of blumenthal clones spewing vitriol 24/7 will likely send me, personally, over the edge.

Yeah, it sucks, but I’m not going to make it any worse than it already is, and....

Bolton carries weight with me.

Do you want to ever have the country escape from liberalism? It's not clear that it ever can. Letting Hillary or Obama take office as we teach the GOP a lesson isn't terribly likely to succeed, but if McCain wins the nomination I can basically guarantee you he'll ensure the situation will be even worse then.

Perhaps it isn't possible to escape liberalism, and if that's the case perhaps we should simply make what we can of the last years before the Shining City on a Hill falls into oblivion. I wouldn't be happy about such a philosophy, but I would understand it. But to debate such a position meaningfully it's necessary to acknowledge exactly what one's position is.
