I think McCain is coming around to our thinking. He has been stubborn. However, I saw a humility and a resolve to reach across the aisle to us conservatives, when he spoke to us in Seattle Friday night. What I heard was a deep love for conservatives that stood behind him way back when was a prisoner in Viet Nam. He has a deep gratitude for the conservative cause because from us came that respect for the soldiers who fight for our nation.
Not much has been explored as to the political problems in the Senate that may have contributed to McCain’s actions as a Senator. I wonder about them, but do not have to time to explore how they affected McCain.

“I think McCain is coming around to our thinking.”
If McCain is truly coming around to our thinking then a good first step for him to get my vote would be for him to initiate legislation right now repealing McCain-Feingold.
I will not vote for McCain as long as that assault on our fundamental liberties stands as law. If he can pass it then he can UNpass it.
That would be a sincere first step in shoring him up the conservative base, and he missed that opportunity in his speech at CPAC where he didn’t apologize for any of his legislation.

I saw a humility and a resolve to reach across the aisle to us conservatives The word "humility" does not belong in the same paragraph with John McCain.
He's "reaching across the aisle" to members of his own party?
That's true, now that he needs the votes, but do you realize what a Freudian slip you made?

Only someone who is not a Conservative has to reach across the aisle to Conservatives. McCain has to reach across the aisle to Conservatives to compensate walking across the aisle to the Socialist Democrats on many issues in the past. I prefer someone who has stayed on the Conservative side of the aisle all along.
What I heard was a deep love for conservatives that stood behind him way back when was a prisoner in Viet Nam. He has a deep gratitude for the conservative cause because from us came that respect for the soldiers who fight for our nation.
Is that before or after The Dream Act, McCain/Feingold, Lieberman/McCain Climate Stewardship Act , supporting embryonic stem cell research, Law Of The Sea Treaty etc..?
He has a deep gratitude for the conservative cause because from us came that respect for the soldiers who fight for our nation.
If siding with Socialists Democrats on issues is his and your idea of gratitude for Conservatives then I suggest you reexamine what it means to be Conservative.

Passsing the buck by blaming everyone in the Senate but McCain couldn't be a more transparent method of trying to cover up the fact he chose of his own volition to oppose Conservatives many times in the past.
