Residuals are what allows continued life and happiness in Hollywood. It's the percentage of merchandising and net grosses that are mythical.

According to New Line and Warner Bros. the LOTR trilogy has never shown a profit. I know. I get the yearly "reports".

I just I should ask James Garner. The Rockford Files has been running on TV for 30 years and never made a dime.

If they aren’t making a profit, you have to wonder why they bother.

“OK run it another year”

At some point, you think they would pitch in the towel and open a laundry or something.
