I bet his replacement turns out more intolerant of Christianity, morality, etc than he is.
The real problem is how a closet perv/anti-Christer like this man was given this position to begin with.
He is just the sacrificial lamb.
Someone / some group is responsible for placing a man like him in this job to begin with.
