Blood of Tyrants, you are pissing against the wind here. If McCain is the nominee, I will vote for him, the alternative is not acceptable with me. You and I and a few others seem to be in the minority here and the McCain bashing continues unabated.

This plain declaration of mine will probably draw fire.

I'm sure there is a post or several of mine saying I would never vote for McCain.

But the alternative is one of the two Marxists the Democrats are trying to foist on us.

I too consider the alternative not acceptable.

No, I’m with you! We got him be default no fault of ours, especially here in Texas! So, I’ll be voting for him hoping that he’ll put on the ticket an outstanding conservative(if he can find one). This guy is not very healthy and if he should win the WH and his health is at stake at least he’ll have a good VP to take over! I’m looking at the bright side. We need to put the pressure on for a GREAT VP! A muslim in the WH will absolutely NOT DO!! I’ll crawl on broken glass holding my nose if I have to!! The SHE-DEVIL is cooked, stick a fork in her!!

I have to agree with you. The atmosphere on the Republican side is getting almost as bad as the demoncrat party was in 1968. If we want a more conservative candidate in the primary election, we just have to work harder and plan better. I mean, we(well, I am a conservative but have voted Republican for many years) sure taught the Republicans a lesson in ‘92 and allowed Clinton to take office for eight long years, didn’t we?

I also see that some of the stuff posted against McCain doesn’t stand up under scrutiny. One thing I keep hearing is that he voted against Bush’s tax cuts twice. Well, if you post that you’r only telling half the truth. Turns out that yes, he did vote against the cuts. Reason being, the tax cuts weren’t balanced by an equal cut in govt. programs. Quite a reasonable viewpoint, actually. From what I read, McCain is quite the fan of reducing Govt. spending. I do like that.

I don’t agree with all of his positions, but do agree with many of them. I will be voting for McCain in the primary this coming Tuesday even though he wasn’t my first choice (Fred Thompson was). I think that if we reject the Republicans now, the only message we will be sending them is that they need to become more liberal to get the votes (even though the libs. will never vote for a Republican).

Oh, yes. Then there are the Supreme Court Nominees...

Hello,

While not happy about it, should JM become our nominee, I will vote for him.

Our brave military men and women deserve better than McCain, but they be totally destroyed under either Hill or Obama.

For all of you that are standing strong for your convictions, I understand your feelings. However, you have a larger job, and that is to stand behind our military. I mean it, this truly sucks, but look to the larger picture.

I’m with you. McCain isn’t the perfect choice by any means but he’s heads-up better than Hillary or Obama, not to mention the opportunity to appoint Supreme Court justices. Time to quit pouting, grit your teeth and pull the lever for someone with an “R” behind his name.

"This plain declaration of mine will probably draw fire."

You think you're due for a roasting because you are willing to buy the party line? In the end, you're the majority even in FR.

BoT admits to being a libertarian, you expect to be picked on, you are both entitled to your conceits.

For my part, I'm simply disgusted with this campaign (both sides) and seriously wonder if I'll do anything at all. I'll probably vote straight "R" except for the presidential block, which will probably be a futile write-in.

But I really doubt it will matter because this thing is either already decided or due for a serious intra-party rebellion: I'm betting on the already decided part to come out on top.

It's gonna be Obama versus an old crock most of us hate - and we don't have numbers even approaching last election's 50/50 (+/-)...so instead of posing, put some thought into what to do after Obama wins.

I agree with your conclusion.

It seems many conservatives have become more like the Libertarians, who most claim to despise, preferring to feel good good about their ideological purity, rather then accomplishing anything politically practical.

Dear Blood, et al:

Since McCain can't win the general election, you fellas ought to just relax. Moot point.

Besides, McCain will get most of the Republican votes anyway, so I don't know why you need to even mention it.

We conservative types are definitely in the minority, so a couple hundred fewer votes won't help him win, because he is going to need a miracle.
