I’ve heard that France and UK news media has been obsessed about the primaries and have been running front page articles about it for weeks. Friend who has been working in London says the media is massively favoring Obama and have been painting him as some kind of reincarnation of JFK.
The Kennedy family endorsement probably helped that quite a bit.
The US elections HAVE generated an enormous amount of interest worldwide - as indeed they should. The person who eventually ends up sitting in the oval office is going to have an enormous influence over the whole planet, not just the US. This is, of course, all good publicity for the USA, so don’t knock it.
As a Brit, I wouldnt have said the media was massively favouring Obama. They certainly are favouring the Democrats - reports on the elections always start off with the Democrat part of the race, they get far more air time, column inches etc etc. Of course, thats partly because the Democrat race is closer and therefore more “newsworthy”, but I suspect the main reason is that they think the Democrats are going to win...
Obama is not gonna bring the USA to war in SE Asia, but maybe Africa.
