Brian Klock has his cause and eats it, too. To show solidarity with U.S. troops, the commander in the Navy Reserve said he lunches every day on packaged "meals-ready-to-eat," the common fare for soldiers in the field.

In the crowded race for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic U.S. Rep. Nick Lampson, Klock is one of several contenders with military experience. He said he went on active duty to the Balkans and was deployed in support of American troops in Afghanistan.......

Klock is being supported by a lot of military people. He is also supported by Bob Perry, the guy that funded the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Ex-NCIS fellow. Current Naval Reserve Commander. More information is here.

His bio and some other things are there. They should have a more extensive web site up shortly.

I've known Brian or many years and while I can't vote for him I support him. He does not mince words and is the kind of guy you'd want at your back in a scrape. Here is an exchange he had at a candidates forum the other night. This is typical of Brian:

He was asked his opinion on the Democrats' trying to embarass the President on the issue of cutting health care benefits for, as an example, children of parents who make $70k per year, even at age 25.

Moderator: "Many of these 25 year olds, to be fair, began receiving benefits when they were infants. Don't you think it is a bit unfair to characterize them as milking the system?"

Commander Klock: "By age 25, my Dad kicked me out of the house. Health care benefits for 25 year olds? Heck, my advice is simple: join the Navy!"

That's Brian....
