"Assuming that John McCain will be the Republican nominee, you can bet my father would be itching to get out on the campaign trail working to elect him even if he disagreed with him on a number of issues."
"Unlike my father, a lot of conservatives stayed home in 1976, and we got four years of Jimmy Carter, whose main legacy was to drive the Shah of Iran from power and create the Islamic Republic of Iran with a bunch of wild-eyed mullahs running the show. He also gave us 20 percent inflation and long, long lines at the gas pumps. And dont forget 440 days of Americans held hostage by the mullahs."

If I vote for POTUS at all this year, it will not be for the person I like the most but rather the one I hate the least.
The RNC needs to be overhauled.

Question is does Reagan’s 11th Commandment apply to a person, such as John McCain, who has demonstrated he has no party loyalty at all?

That may be but I’m writing in the name of the man that Michael Reagan called the best man for the job.

Conservatives are in a tough spot. It is a lose-lose situation. Personally I think we are better off with McCain, but it is easy to understand the opposite side of this.

President Reagan would have supported the Republican nominee over Hillary or Obama no matter who it was. He would figure four years with a RINO would be better than even one day with Hillary or Obama.

Ronald Reagans 11th Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican. Too bad a fellow Republican is not running.

President Reagan would have supported the Republican nominee over Hillary or Obama no matter who it was. He would figure four years with a RINO would be better than even one day with Hillary or Obama. Ford was a major RINO.

I suspect that some of you Freepers weren’t even born when Jimmy Carter became President but I can assure you that times was bad here in River City!

There is a time to mend fences, and Reagan would have done just what Romney is doing. I am not saying that Rush and the rest need to run out and pledge unquestioned fealty to McCain, but at least both sides should be looking at where to find some common ground and rebuilding the relationship from there.

That's my whole problem with the "commandment". Reagan would not support tossing principle overboard in favor of blind party support.
Despite my respect for Michael Reagan, I suspect that his father would have been pretty quiet on this one.

Probably so, but then, Reagan also nominated Anthony Kennedy and Sandra Day O’Connor, and supported the Brady Bill.

I am not for McCain...I am just against Hillary/Obama.
That makes it easier to digest.
To: MNJohnnie
Just because McCain says he’s a Republican doesn’t mean it’s so.
