LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Bai Ling's good looks and eccentric outfits have frequently put her picture in celebrity magazines, but that doesn't mean she can take the magazines for free.

The Chinese actress was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting two celebrity magazines and two packets of batteries at Los Angeles International Airport. The items had a total value of $16, said Sgt. Jim Holcomb of the airport's police department.

When the competition is flashing their privates, loading up clips to YouTube of themselves smoking crack and hitting rehab in between jail stints, a 5 finger discount for magazines and batteries seems downright quaint.
Bai Ling is practically ‘old hollywood class’, all things considered.

And it reminds me of the mousy, bespectacled, and pixieish woman who slaved away at the copy desk back when I worked at a magazine. Very bookish, always wore black, reminded one of a librarian.
Until the night of our chi-chi anniversary party which was a suit or black tie for the men, formal for the women, and held at one of Boston’s five star hotels.
And there she was, decked out in a slinky formal gown, no glasses, hair pulled back, pro makeup job, and myself and the other guys ogling at this now-Miss Supermodel and wondering “Who the heck is that!?!” It took a few minutes for the word to pass that it was in fact Miss Librarian from the copy desk. Yow! Yeesh! Unbeliveable! (Does she have a boyfriend?)
It was impossible to see her in the same way ever again.
As for Bai Ling, she did an excellent job as an attorney in Red Corner, and not bad at all in Anna And The King.

That movie was great, but that final scene was so sad. I can see why that little girl was messed up after that movie.
