My solution is conservative vote, no matter the party, right down the line.

As far as the Presidential vote, I haven't decided yet. I am of about three different thoughts.

#1 - Vote McCain, I think I can have a bigger influence on McCain as a conservative than on either of the DEMONcRATs.

#2 - Vote third party, I hate to vote for someone that I know cannot win in this election cycle AND that won't be much better than what's out there.

#3 - Write in vote, same as number 2 but with a write in at least you send a message to the current GOP.

Right now I am leaning towards option #1 simply because I trust the DEMONcRATs less than I trust McCain, not that I trust McCain any farther than I could throw him AND the secret service agents around him. (200 lbs for McCain and the agents vs 600 lbs for the DEMONcRATs)

“Since when has compromise become a dirty word? Compromise IS politics. “

Maybe for YOU this is acceptable.

For me it is not. I will NO LONGER compromise on PRINCIPLE. THAT is precisely what got us into this situation of the “big tent” and losing ground to LIBERALS. They do NOT compromise. They keep at it and at it till they get their way. Now we have a Demoncrat running as a Republican for the WH. The Hick is probably worse since he has redefined Christianity into HUMANISM.

Look how the Huckser twists the Gold Rule:

Huckabee promotes ‘open door’ policy at LULAC convention
Thursday, Jun 30, 2005

By Wesley Brown
Arkansas News Bureau
LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.

“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you,” Huckabee said, citing the Golden Rule. “I have tried to govern that way and it stands to reason that I really do believe that what made this great country so great and so unique is that it has always been a place for people to run to - and not run from.

“I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families ...,” Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation.

Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock.

About 10,000 political, community and business leaders, along with exhibitors and speakers are in Little Rock attending the convention at the Statehouse Convention Center. The convention started Monday and runs through Saturday.

Although he never actually talked about the U.S. or Arkansas immigration policy, Huckabee made it very clear where he stood on the issue. In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base.

“Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority,” Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter.

He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state’s capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation.

“Your gathering is so very significant for our state,” Huckabee said. “We are delighted to have you.”

Despite several light moments, Huckabee did not stray away from several controversial issues that made him a target of criticism during the recently ended 85th General Assembly. He said Arkansas needs to make the transition from a traditional Southern state to one that recognizes and cherishes diversity “in culture, in language and in population.”

“This is an issue that is going to require extraordinary efforts on both sides of the border, particularly those coming from Mexico,” Huckabee said of verifying the status of illegal aliens. “But I am confident that our government will recognize that we should accommodate people who wish to provide the best opportunities for their families (and) employers so that we can make sure our economy has the necessary work force.”

During the legislation session, Huckabee criticized an immigration bill by Republican senators Jim Holt of Springdale and Denny Altes of Fort Smith as un-Christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life.

Senate Bill 206, which died in the Senate, would have required proof of citizenship to register to vote and also force state agencies to report suspected cases of people living in the country illegally. Holt, R-Springdale, replied later to Huckabee’s comments that Christian charity does not include turning a blind eye to lawbreaking.

The Republican governor, who many believe will run for president in 2008, also backed legislation that would have opened the door for illegal immigrants in Arkansas to receive college scholarships.

House Bill 1525 by Rep. Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock, was approved by the House but eventually failed in the Senate. Huckabee reiterated Wednesday that he believes every child, regardless of their parent’s immigration status, should have an opportunity to receive an education in the U.S.

Breaking LAWS is not Christianity. Nor is pandering to folks to gain votes just because of their ethnicity. Nor is REWARDING kids of ILLEGALS with scholarships that LEGAL citizens vy for. He’s a da* HUMANIST.

Reagan was also WRONG in offering ILLEGALS citizenship! It sends the WRONG message to those that stand in line and go through the process LEGALLY. To the children of ILLEGALS it also sends them the message that our laws don't matter - we'll define them down when it suits us. It's WRONG. It's ALL ABOUT PRINCIPLE - NOT COMPROMISE on PRINICPLE.

I don't like McCain and I won't vote for him. But that doesn't matter because McCain does not have a chance in the GE. It will be a democrat land slide.

The only hope for McCain would be a 911 type attack close to the GE where the knee-jerk reflex would be to elect a hawk.

You idea that he attacks crossover voters lacks standing. The dems wanted to run against him. He is vulnerable and damaged goods.

Four posts after reminding us all that you "counted me out" eight years ago, and you're pinging me to this? Geeesh. There are lots of people who aren't "pure conservatives," whatever that means to you, that I'd vote for, jost not this particular pr**k. He's been yanking my chain for years longer than he's been yanking yours. You act like the guy didn't exist before 2000.

I don't have to vote for anybody if I don't want to. It's a valid position, so deal. I've had it up to here with the "pure conservative" straw man.

So no vote from your for McCain. No vote for Huckabee. And I assume no vote for Ron Paul or Alan Keyes?

So just WHO are you going to vote for? What's your alternative?

Because not voting is as good as voting for the Democrats. And I assume that's a much worse alignment to your principles...

“So no vote from your for McCain. No vote for Huckabee. And I assume no vote for Ron Paul or Alan Keyes?”

Wrong. So much for your presumptuous asumtopins.

“So just WHO are you going to vote for? What’s your alternative? “

No one currently running as a Republican will get OUR vote. It’s a given that no Demoncrat will ever get our vote.

“Because not voting is as good as voting for the Democrats. And I assume that’s a much worse alignment to your principles...”

Oh PLEASE - STOP the NONSENSE!

When we do NOT vote, that is NOT a vote for a Demoncrat.

To NOT vote is to NOT vote for ANYONE.
It’s really that straight forward.

Let me make it CLEAR:

We will NOT be voting for McPain

We will NOT be voting for either the Obomnation or Hitlery.

The Hickster will not be the nominee - thank GOD!

So, NOT voting is just that - NO VOTE for ANYONE.

TO NOT vote is not a vote for Hitlery or Obama. In the past we have held our nose and dutifully voted for the Republican nominee - no matter how compromised they were. It has reached the point where we just can't do it anymore.

It's long over due to stand on principle. If you have no principles then by all means vote for McCain. It is because of people like YOU, that have NO priniplces that the GOP keeps going to the LEFT. Every year it's the same thing - vote for the Republican so the Demoncrats don't get the WH. Each year the GOP nominee is worse that the previous four years. GOP standards keep going DOWN and YOU and others like you ENCOUARGE it. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

McCain is just another Demoncrat. It's time the GOP got back to its core ideology. As of now the Republican keeps drifting to the left. It's to the point where the two parties are merging. There is little difference between McCain and the other Demoncrats. Tough love is needed to send the GOP a message: Get some REAL conservatives in there! If not, we will be registering as Independents and looking more closely at THIRD PARTIES.

Hmm, I look at the quote of the greatest Republican President of the last 100 years right above, Ronald Reagan, talking about compromise. Something you seem to be unwilling to do.

I do see a lot of anger and shouting on your part over what you perceive to be the “loss of principle” of the Republican party.

Perhaps the Republican party is still the same; McCain being the nominee seems to fit with Reagan’s words above.

Perhaps it’s not the GOP that’s changed, but you that changed?

You get pretty riled up about Huckabee’s LULAC speech. What particular sentence do you think is the most condemning?
