United States cannot be governed by fear

Friday, February 15, 2008 1:14 PM EST There is always, in America, a tension between security and freedom.

Events can conspire to tip the nation in one direction or another for periods of time, almost as though the scales of justice were constantly in play, tilting to individual freedom and then to a loss of freedoms for the comfort of security.

After 9/11 we allowed the scales to tip in the direction of security. We passed the Patriot Act, which still has security influences that are unknown to the general public all these years later. We do know that some libraries refused access to their patrons records, but we do not know the extent of the governmental intrusions nor the successful intelligence gained.

The only fear that we’re being governed by is that of Hillary. Elect McCain, or we’ll have Hillary punish you.

Of course, the second the next attack happens and a member of the author’s family is affected, he will be screaming “why wasn’t more done to protect us!!!!” the loudest.

The new meme that the Left is trying to push is that sticking your head in the sand is courage, concerning yourself with foreign threats is cowardice. This is something that needs to be challenged head on, before it can do too much harm.
