** EXCERPT **
Backstage at the Target Center in Minneapolis before a rally earlier this month, Barack Obama engaged in one of his pregame rituals: the presidential candidate joined a circle of young campaign supporters and staff, clasped hands with those on either side of him and prayed.
Hillary Clinton, his rival for the Democratic nomination, has talked on the campaign trail about the "prayer warriors" who support her, and her campaign has made sure that primary voters know that Clinton used to host church picnics at the governor's mansion in Arkansas.
If the Democratic ticket in November is able to capture a greater share of religious voters than in previous elections, it will be because both Obama and Clinton have rejected their party's traditional fight- or-flight reaction to religion. For decades, the men and women who ran the Democratic Party and its campaigns bought into the conservative spin that the faithful were pro-life, right-wing and most certainly not Democratic voters. Armed with this mind-set, political professionals gave themselves permission to ignore religion and the religious. And in 2004, John Kerry paid the price for that decision.
That year, the Bush-Cheney operation did more with religious outreach than any other campaign in history, deploying a massive parish- and congregation-level mobilization effort. In Florida alone, the gop employed a state chairwoman for Evangelical outreach who appointed a dozen regional coordinators around the state and designated outreach chairs in each of Florida's 67 counties. Every county chair, in turn, recruited between 30 and 50 volunteers to contact and register their Evangelical neighbors.

BTW, the writer puts "GOP" in lower-case.
That's all you really need to know, I suppose.
LOL. That’s funny. :-)
Wanna buy the Brooklyn Bridge????
Who writes this BS? Kerry and Edwards made numerous campaign speeches in churches and met with all sorts of religious leaders during the 2004 election cycle. Every previous election cycle always involved Democrats pandering to voters in churches.
<sarcasm>
I think the writer of this piece is a racist. He clearly believes the black churches in which Democrats regularly and routinely campaign every 4 years don't really count as churches.
</sarcasm>
The God who abhores abortion and homosexuality. Is that the God they are trying to reach. Well, good luck. I think He told them how he felt a long time ago and they refuse to listen. I don’t think He is listening now. Now, ther is always Satan who is listening to them and he is tickled pink!
The Democrat Party platform calls for rigid adherence to the continuation of abortion on demand. No moral person of any denomination can go along with that. Yes, I know that there are nominally “Christian” congregations and such which support the so-called “choice” agenda, but they are ignorant fools led by immoral liars.
But of COURSE they embrace religion!
Rastafarian, Bhuddist, Taoist, Gaia-worship, Wicca, Scientology, Hinduism, Islam....
ANYTHING except mainstream Christianity, which is the A-#1 root of ALL EVIL!
(Acoording to them....)
A few years ago I posted the theory that if the Democrats believed that the religious vote helped elect President Bush, that come next election you would see the Democrats int church, in the front pew, yelling hallelujah the loudest. Thus it has come to pass.
Bump!
If even Satan can masquerade as an angel of light, then it shouldn’t be too hard for his mortal servants to pull it off, should it?
I’ve been hearing for several years now that the Dems have found religion, the real religion, the kind the government distributes. Now that they have their pop messiah, people swooning in his presence, the witch put in her place and a crypt keeper to run against, there is absolutely nothing to stop their revival.
They can keep their religion, their messiah, their witch and our (their) crypt keeper. I don’t want to go to the show.
btt
Indeed Dem candidates have a long tradition of speaking from the pulpits of liberal-leaning pseudo-”Christian” churches who openly endorse them. The MSM simply never reports on such shenanigans.
The only time we hear about religion and the church in the MSM is when Barry Lynn demands prosecution of any conservative pastors who dare to express their personal opinions.
Or how about Obama’s geat rcist, anti-white church?
Sure they’ve got religion. Don’t you remember how religious President Clinton was on Easter Sunday?
“Sources familiar with Lewinsky’s account say she cited one sexual encounter with the president on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1996. The sources say she remembers having sex with the president that day after he and the first family returned from church services where they honored the late Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, who was killed in a plane crash”.

Gee, when President Bush mentions anything about prayers or praying the msm get their panties in a twist, but when it’s a democrat it’s very nice.
