I don't get it. These "gay Orthodox" people have to ask their "rabbis" for permission to sit together in shul (and will supposedly obey them), but they simply throw out Halakhah's ban on homosexuality? This being the case, why is it necessary to have a rabbi's permission to sit together? Why not just plow right ahead on that too?

There is this misconception that they want the Torah changed to permit the forbidden sexual acts. They don’t.
The problem is their determination to force the religious world to ‘normalize’ their admittedly perverted desires. Even though the real orthodox ones are not in any way expecting any kind of permission to engage in forbidden activity.
It’s just important not to misunderstand their aim.
