Scarborough Won't Smile at Mika's Michelle Obama Defense
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/19/2008 4:48:02 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

I sense there's often more than a bit of theater in the arguments between Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. Not saying Morning Joe's the WTF of political talk, but a little conflict never hurt the ratings.

But there was evidence that this morning's dust-up between the duo was for real. At one point, Scarborough disclosed that a producer had told him through his earpiece to put on a smile, but Joe wasn't buying.

The subject was Michelle Obama's statement that "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country."

Scarborough opined that whereas the flap over Barack borrowing a line from friend Deval Patrick wouldn't hurt him, the attitude Michelle expressed could. Mika rose to Michelle's defense, and the fight was on.

This utter lack of pride in their country or its people is ESPECIALLY damning in light of the amazing and praiseworthy work that President Bush has done for Africa during his terms as President — especially given the fact that Obama still has family there (which seems a bit strange, given that he is so wealthy and, apparently, holy and powerful — why is his grandmother still living in a hut in a desolate village on the Dark Continent when her son is this successful in America?).

Anyway, just shut up and vote for Barack so that his wife can finally appreciate something you stupid people in this country she is so forcibly made to endure living in have done.

Got it?

I had to turn that lightweight exchange off - I am so sick of Mika’s attention grabbing - and Joe seems to be allowing her mini trantrums on a daily basis.

Did anyone tell her she is second banana there? Geist is sitting like a stuffed doll trying to stay above the junk.

This chatty format for news delivery is so hard to take.

I have always been PROUD of MY COUNTRY, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Greatest place on earth. My mother taught me that we all pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. We don’t go around with our hand out. We work for what we have. I was taught to love mom, the flag, apple pie, etc. To love USA! We have nothing to be ashamed of. So many people trying to come here every day!

With all this talk about making change you’d think the democrats all just transitioned from a career as a video arcade attendant or bank teller!!

QUESTION: Mika, if this country is so bad, why do so many people desperately break the law to come here?

This echos her husband’s lack of pride in the USA in his many little ways of dishonoring our flag. This could become her defining moment for the American people. Let’s see if Billary hangs them for it.

The “not proud” part was the least of it.

What is truly scary are her barely coded warnings that Barak is going to force change/socialism on us, whether we want it or not.

I listened to Mrs. Obama early on in her appearance on the national stage and decided that she was going to be a problem for his campaign.

She is full of resentments and nastiness. She says incredibly stupid things. This will continue.

Michelle is black? Wow, whoda thunk it! Sorry, but I’ve had more “no’s” sent to me than her privileged life has. Bet she got a scholorship for her higher education where my white child (who has a 3.9... along with another FRiend on these boards who also has seen the light) is finding out that scholarships to them are nonexistant. In this day and age it makes me sick so many pull the race card and claim they are down trodden and America owes them something. Their motherland is still there but I don’t see anyone buying a ticket back across the ocean. That’s one thing I like about Whoopie Goldburg, she has stated many times that she’s seen what Africa is and that she’s not an African American but an American and proud to be such. America doesn’t owe them anything. They owe America.

“...for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country...”

Gee.... where was she during the 9/11 attack and recovery, where was she when Americans forked over millions for Katrina relief, where was she when Americans forked over literally billions for tsunami relief, did this jackass NEVER watch an American flag raised during an Olympic ceremony, where was she when American soldiers dragged Saddam filthy and scared like a rabbit out of a hole in the ground, did she tune out when Americans said good bye to President Reagan and President Ford... oh never mind! What rock does she live under???

It would be sooo funny if they weren’t all so dangerous - Obama’s the new Bill, and now Michelle’s the new Hillary.

A female, African-American, Princeton-and-Harvard-educated attorney, who has achieved a great deal in her life, who lived through the Civil Rights revolution (and was the daughter of a Chicago city worker who really experienced those events), and who is married to an African-American man who is a U.S. Senator, has never been proud of her country before?

Under, heck, she must have been living IN a rock to have missed the Apollo 11 moon landing, not to mention all the rest of America’s NASA achievements. What about the Bicentennial, which must have reminded everyone of all America’s proud accomplishments? Where was Michelle Obama then?

Giving due credit to JFK, Mrs. Obama IS asking what her country can do for her (place her hubby and vicariously her) into the history books; whilst NOT doing anything for her country. I read this as Mrs. Obama is owed...the Princeton education; the big house (w/the extra parcel of land in Chicago); and now the White House.

Hillary bashers take note...this is the mindset from one half of the couple of 'hope.' Carville must have the flu, because the Clintonistas should be all over this.

Even if she’s too young to claim personal recollection of the events you talk about, he ‘education’ is truly defficient if these things were not described to her. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING can prevent a very natural pride in these things and these events except...either, ignorance or anti-American sentiment...possibly both.

She is welcome to take her pick!!!
