I am impressed that Arun is providing a good counter-point to the propaganda that has been promulgated over the past two years — outstanding!
Would we wish it in stronger terms? Of course, but we all have our own biases and prejudices. Mine is that you don’t use the Military as an extension of Diplomacy. Once you let loose the Dogs of War there is no Diplomacy until victory for one side or the other, or you WILL lose.
Jim; Many thanks — again — for the opportunity to meet with and converse with a great group of Patriots. These folks — RedRover, Girlene, jasusamo, and xzins — all deserve our recognition and heartfelt thanks for supporting our Marines and their Families in this travesty of prosecutorial corruption. Thank you all.
Mornin, Smooth. It was a complete surprise to me too, I found it through his link in his one answer.
Ooops! My apologies — I didn’t mean to leave you out of the kudos — you too deserve the comments in my #161, smooth.
I noticed that too, sounds like a comment some moonbat from Berkeley would make, there’s many antiwar people in Canada also though.
LOL. Me — I’m still in Basic Training — for the third time!!!!
I couldn’t agree more with you, brit about your comment on releasing the Dogs of War. War is a consequence of diplomatic failure.
Another loser question/comment from Toronto. They found it amazing that the intelligence and press officers didn’t believe the Hammarabi “Rights” Group and treated it as propaganda. Ummmmm, the military didn’t see it until sometime after Times got their hands on it in January, 2006. Hey, Toronto, shut up!
If I recall that ‘group’ was two “students” — older guys — who were released by the Iraqui’s during an amnesty. One was shown to be an insurgent, and planned the video of the bodies.
Red and I were discussing the Hammarabi Human Rights group earlier in this thread. McGirk said he had worked with the Hammarabi group on other occasions. But he never said what projects they were. The group consisted of two people: Thaer Thabet al-Haditha, a 40 something budding journalist who allegedely took the video and a al-Mashhadani guy. There just happens to be another Ali al-Mashhadani who was also a Reuter’s photographer/stringer who later got involved in reporting about the incident. He was released from US custody for suspicion of ties to insurgents right before McGirk “found” the video.
There were suggestions in a NewsMax article that the Hammarabi guys were under surveillance prior to the Haditha incident for suspected ties to the insurgency. Needless to say, all three appear to be rather shady.
Thanks, Girl — my colander brain has the gist of it, just not the details you and Red developed.
Seems the chat in WaPo is dying down; nothing new in the past 25 mins. Good Q’s and responses though. I get the impression that Arun has changed some minds.
I think the producer did a pretty good job explaining the incident in Haditha and going through the facts of the case. I’m sure he did change some minds.

David, again, thank you for your diligence and support!
Over a span of two years, the American people have been bombarded by the medias rush to judgment of Our Haditha Marines. Although the PBS Frontline documentary came short of fully exposing the persecution of these Marines, I believe they made a great impact in certain areas.
The American people now know that John Murthas they killed innocent civilians in cold blood slander is a lie. The Constitutional rights of these honorable Marines were violated by a treasonous Congressman. John Murtha put his political agenda above the lives and Constitutional rights of these Marines. What will the voters in Pa Congressional District 12 do about Murthas behavior? I am praying Republican candidate for Congress, LtCol William Trower Russell will make their decision an easy one. Vote Murtha out of office!
America and the world has seen and heard testimony documenting the firefights that engulfed Haditha on 19 November 2005. Testimony that verified 3rd Plt 3/1 Kilo Company responded to a complex insurgent attack using their training and ROE. There was no firefight John Murtha, wrong again. 12 Marine WIA, 1 Marine KIA God Bless LCpl Miguel Terrazas
PBS exposed the shadowy tactics of the NCIS. The agency coerced a Marine corporal into testifying against fellow Marines with a grant of immunity. After changing his statement three times, and failing a polygraph, this ex-Marine tried to identify Sgt Wuterich as the lone shooter at the white vehicle. Forensic evidence, presented by an NCIS agent, recanted these lies. The forensic evidence documented TWO shooters involved with the white vehicle! How far will the Government go to get convictions?
And finally more Iraqi falsehoods. The Americans separated the men from the women and children, took them into house 4 and they executed them. The forensic evidence, supplied by the NCIS, proved there were no executions. Recovered bullets, shell casings and bullet trajectories proved house 4 was a dynamic environment. Pathology reports verified these four insurgents were shot from a distance of 2 feet to infinity. The Marines told the truth ..the Iraqis lied.
For over two years and thousands of articles, the MSM has twisted the facts and spoon fed the American public their Haditha agenda. In this one hour documentary, I feel PBS has helped America to see the truth as to what happened in Haditha. For those of us who have read the thousands of pages of Article 32 testimony on the Defend Our Marines we know the truth. Maybe this one hour segment from Frontline has helped many more Americans to see the truth.
