I'm no fan of Dubya, but in his defense... the president doesn't really have THAT much control over the economy, right? But of course it's true that presidents gets either the blame or credit for the economy.

I'm no fan of Dubya, but in his defense... the president doesn't really have THAT much control over the economy, right? I wouldn't call it control, but influence. And as a thought experiment compare the economy under Carter versus Reagan.
