WASHINGTON Mayor Bloomberg singled out for praise three Republicans Senator McCain, Michael Huckabee, and President Bush for their positions on immigration, suggesting they have been more "pro-immigration" than the Democratic presidential candidates. "In terms of immigration policy, the ones who have stood out, interestingly enough, are the three Republicans. Huckabee and McCain and President Bush have all been much more pro-immigration than the other candidates," Mr. Bloomberg told reporters here yesterday in response to a question from The New York Sun about his opinion on the immigration stances of Mr. McCain and senators Clinton and Obama. "Now hopefully the other candidates are starting to understand the value of immigration and changing."

No matter who gets elected this time, the word “illegal” is going to be down the memory hole.
Amnesty here we come!
Much more to the point
That’s all Republicans need, praise on immigration from this midget. I guess Bloomie doesn’t want any of the Republicans to win.
Maybe he'll go back to trying to convince Obama that carbon taxes are better then cap and trade..

I know there are still those of us who will not be worn down. I won’t forget! McCain is not worthy to be our candidate - if we meekly submit & give him our support - we are surrendering and giving in to amnesty. I can’t believe so many on this site have already given in to it.
I’ll not be one of those sheeple. Call me all the names you want & tell me to go away - I won’t go away unless JimRob asks me to.
5 children killed by two illegal aliens in Minnesota and Michigan in the past week can not be forgotten. We have obligations to those kids and their families.
The sad part about this is that there people here on FR who would take Bloomberg word because they want to. I am pretty sure bloomberg is savvy enough to know the effect of this comment.
Amen.
Mayor Bloomberg’s endorsement for taking a pro-illegal position is not exactly calculated to win the hearts and minds of the Republican base.
Accolades from Bloomberg. Damn...now I’m all swole-up with pride.
IMO the amnesty issue would have passed, but McCain didn’t want to take the hit for the full out fight he would have had to wage.
Wait until he’s president. I know what he says now, but...
You are unbelievable! These "undocumented Americans", as you call them - are ILLEGAL ALIENS! They are not Americans!!!
This is what we can expect if Juan McCain becomes President.
Amnesty will be passed regardless who becomes president in January if not before. Suck it up and move on to another issue.
No.
“No,” what? No amnesty will not pass or No you won’t move on.
No, I won’t move on.
“Amnesty will be passed regardless who becomes president in January if not before. Suck it up and move on to another issue.”
Absolutely not. Your guy agrees with a traitor - Juan Hernandez. We will not “suck it up”.
Fine. Gripe and moan all your want. It will do no good.
Your Benedict Arnold will not have my vote.
You people have an interesting method of your candidate.
You probably picked your name here because you think it’ll appeal to Evangelicals.... lol.
btt
Look, if you are on the Loose Cannon’s payroll to hang out on conservative blogs like this one, perhaps to try and sway opinion ( or worse) please be more subtle with the outrage. Its an insult to our intelligence.
There’s no other issue to move on to. If amnesty passes, leftist Democrats will become the majority party in perpetuity. Since you’re a leftist Democrat, it’s what you’re hoping for.
Really now, have you become 'GOD' I do realize that McCain acts like he is one????
Doubty, you think McCain will do a 180 and be against amnesty? If he did that now he would capture the vote of many conservatives who will not accept him now because of his pro illegal stance. Did I get you wrong?
Regards
There is no other issue. Amnesty means no more two party system. You suck that up. Sucker.
John currently states that he is going to get the border under control before he does anything else. That leads me to think he’s still intent on doing ‘something else’.
Could a promise to give up the transitioning of illegal immigrants inside our nation to citizens end opposition to John? I don’t know.
Here’s one caviot that I’m not sure everyone considers with regard to this issue. What if John does close the border, does put policies in place that would cause illegals to repatriate to Mexico? Would that be the end of it? It is my understanding that John wants to put in place a work visa program that will allow millions of Mexican immigrants to pour into our nation.
In effect, John would be legalizing what has been taking place illegally. All the same social pressures would exist, but now it would be legal.
John isn’t going to cause illegals here now to return home. He may make a cursory effort to close the border. But once he is in office, I expect to see a legal flood of Mexican nationals enter this nation to answer the call of business.
Job displacement will occur, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for McCain and company.
Some people who felt that it was vitally important to keep a Republican in the White House would buy off on ‘the promise’ if it were offered. I’m sure many others would not.
I personally don’t trust John McCain at all. That’s me. I don’t know how many others have the same perception of him.
This year more than any other, it seemed to me that our candidates had many cob webs in their closets. We were being asked to forget about them. And what you address here, is yet another instance of that, should John make the promise you have outlined.
This is the year when we were asked to forget about anything that happened yesterday or prior to it, be very charitable about comments made today, and buy off on the idea that tomorrow was going to be a better day with no track record whatsoever to indicate that might be the reasonable thing to do.
If John made that promise, those who could buy off on the above concept would undoubtedly support him. And those who couldn’t, wouldn’t.
You can count me in the later group.
Got it , thanks.
