Excitement for Obama mixed with safety fears

NEW YORK - For many black Americans, it's a conversation they find hard to avoid, revisiting old fears in the light of bright new hopes.

They watch with wonder as Barack Obama moves ever closer to becoming America's first black president. And they ask themselves, their family, their friends: Is he at risk? Will he be safe?

There is, of course, no sure answer. But interviews with blacks across the country, prominent and otherwise, suggest that lingering worries are outweighed by enthusiasm and determination.

Obama would have the white supremacists/neo-nazi type after him.

They may not like him or vote for him, but why make the effort to kill him? If there is an assasination attempt on his life as president, I guess it will either come from an Obama cult member, (in the shades of John Lennon), or a muslim.

Frankly, I worry about this, too. Especially, if the rioting and looting in New Orleans after Katrina is an indication of what would follow.

Oh this is vile. Vile and insipid, pandering to things recent generations have not known. At all.

Next the Maine will sink and we’ll go to war with Spain.

It might originate with someone or someones who need to make certain the democrat party does not shatter. Or that the old guard democrtats stay in power.

There’s probably more people, such as al queda, who want to see Bush dead rather than Obama

For sheer hatred of our president, I'm not sure Al-Quaeda can match the Democrats. And the campuses and big cities are crawling with them.

Liberals are hyperventilating again. This is an attempt to sub-conciously tie him to icons in the past.

Note the LACK of concerns for:
- taxpayers hit by his higher taxes
- military units affected by his open gays in the military policy
- Iraqi people who will get hammered by premature withdrawal, and American credibiltiy hammered as well, in a war that we are on our way to winning decisively now

Instead a contentless groundless non-news item.
Obama is about as much in danger as Huckabee or Alan Keyes.

Agenda-driven journalism strikes again.
