The Pats were fined for breaking the rules on taping. The NFL acknowledges that stealing signs is part of their culture and there are a myriad of ways it can be done that do not violate NFL rules. That the Pats had a guy openly doing it can be interpreted in a few ways but the “Spygate” moniker is inappropriate.

The only "crime" the Patriots are guilty of is doing it in a manner proscribed by the league.

for all we know, Goodell doesn’t want people to really understand what the Pats did....OTOH....maybe its deeper than we think....maybe a real investigation by non-nfl personal would show fixing the games...ala the Stealers over the Seahawks...
