Big mistake on his part. The first warning shot should have been center mass.
Here's the problem. Most people aren't wired to kill. The problem with regular civvies and weapons is that by the time the civvie has built up enough rage and confidence in himself the perp is already running(if he hasn't killed the civvie).

The right to bear arms is nice, but the real issue in America is the breakdown of society. 60 years ago the perp would have been beaten senseless by everybody in the vicinity before he got given to the police.

Guns are nice, but they're just a stop gap, not the solution.

When I was a kid my neighbor cop told me if you are going to shoot someone in your backyard make sure you always drag his body into your kitchen and then call the police

I have not understood that most aren’t wired to kill in this circumstance. I would shoot right into him without conflict I do believe. Maybe I am wrong. But it drives me nuts when I hear women say “I couldn’t shoot someone no matter what, even if they were in my house”. Hell, I could shoot ‘em in the yard if they were a threat. Now I wouldn’t shoot them on the street from the house unless they were really coming at the house with a pointed gun.

Man should not have fired a warning.

God forbid that I ever have to do it.

But if somebody attempts to kill, harm, or steal from me or mine...a gun absolutely will be the solution.
