McCain did the right thing, as far as I am concerned. There is no need to us Obamas middle name to discredit him. He did not choose his name. His parents did. Attack Obama on the things he has done...not on stuff his parents did. Anything said during a candidates campaign appearance reflects on him. McCain is wise to distance himself from this kind of attack.
Exactly the right thing for McCain to do.

Another reason we need to help the GOP see that McCain will be a disaster in November.
The fighting instinct that was there 40 years ago in McCain has been DC’d out.
He will have to go nuclear against either of them during the campaign at some point—simple truth demands an end to this stupid pandering to Dems. They never return the favor.
This has been the GOP’s problem since 1995—go along to get along.
That is OK when your opponent is not an enemy of America.
It is not OK when you are facing Marxist traitors like Obama and criminals like Hillary Clinton.

The name Barack means Mohammed’s winged horse? Quite a metaphor in that isn’t there?

"But no, he had to show off what a fine, fine fellow he is." And show how much he reveres RATS and take the opportunity to repudiate a guy who I guess is a rather conservative/right wing type. In other words "apes is apes" and McCain is McCain.

What a total loser the Republicans have saddled themselves with this year! For me it brings back memories of 1996, when perky little Katie Couric was pushing around old Bob Dole on the Today Show. Pathetic.

Fear and dislike are all he has to work with. Even his supporters can only come up with “would you rather HIllary or Obama?” as a reason to vote for him. and they they eve negate that by usually launching into a name calling episode.

I wonder if Juan Mc Cain is ticked about names that may actually be representative of loyalties?
To: isrul
Does anyone think for a moment that this whole thing wasnt orchestrated?
McCain knows who Cunningham is, and Cunningham is not going to say something McCain doesnt want him to.
Its just McCain attacking Obama thru Cunningham, then apologizing for them to look like the good guy. Blecchh.
To: goldfinch
I pretty much agreed with you until I saw the word "attack". That's a stretch. Just like McCain's response was way over the top both in his "repudiation" and his vomit inducing. unwarranted descriptive remarks regarding the "honorable" pieces of dung who will bury him.
The whole incident was blown way out of proportion and his response was just another example of McCain showing where his true affections reside; on the other side of the aisle.

I take it they were not removed in Nam, right?
He is not Saint McCain, so he better get off the holier than thou trip before he is embarrassed.

I wouldn't be surprised if McCain didn’t know at the time that Obama’s middle name is Hussein but I’m sure he does now if that was the case!
