Do not seek logic in this situation.

When W had the numbers, the problem was back-burnered... better yet, ignored. Now it's still back there, but it's the Democrats (and me) who are turning up the heat on Pore ole George.

Tell ya sumpin' else ... the oilcos are doing OK on the set of rules they are given to play by. So they are big fat juicy targets. Zo sorry Doc, Georgie screwed the pooch on this big-time.

Of course the Democrats will make the "tax the oil companies" gesture. But that's going nowhere. It's just a little Georgie roast to get them safely through the election ... and then it's business as usual.

You’re right on that, it’s business as usual. But let’s look at it pragmatically.
Why did the Democrats place a moratorium on the building of petroleum cracking plants in the U.S. during the early 90’s?
Why did the Democrats in all their wisdom refuse to open ANWAR?
Why have the Democrats refused to allow the Oil Companies to drill off the coasts of California, Atlantic seaboard shelf, Gulf of Mexico etc.?
Was it because they had hatred of America during the 90’s right up until today?
Or, as you claim partisan reasons?
Personally I think it’s partisan reasons. And it is the people of America that are hurt in the long run. So in essence you're right it is business as usual for the Democrats.
