Basically Bush won twice because of his support for gun ownership, and nothing else.

1) Bush made it quite clear while campaigning for President in 200 that he'd sign the Clinton '94 gun ban renewal if it reached his desk.

2) Bush's DOJ filed a brief to SCOTUS last a couple weeks ago that effectively supports the D.C. gun ban.

He's no friend to the 2A.

The courts had already gutted it to the point that it didn’t do much and the RATS were working on a new one.
