An uncommon phenomenon, imho.

In this presidential year of hope, let us all hope that someone, somewhere will finally be honest with the American people about unidentified flying objects. Censorship and intimidation have no place in a free and democratic society.Indeed!
Out in Nevada, close to Area 51, there is evidence of other secrets that have been withheld from the public for years.
These co-ordinates, when viewed in Goole Earth®, will PROVE that secrets ARE being withheld: eleven of them!
By seeing THIS evidence; you will realize that they are TAUNTING us!!

"On Jan. 10, just one day after my article on UFO secrecy appeared in this newspaper and on this Web site (Intelligent Extraterrestrial life: The Other Inconvenient truth? Jan. 9), I was unceremoniously dropped as a Cato Institute adjunct scholar, a position Id held for more than 20 years. My association with the libertarian Cato Institute in Washington, D. C. goes back many decades. Yet they cut me away in a heartbeat because I dared call for more government disclosure on the UFO phenomenon. " He must have come up against the Draco Reptilian cabal infiltrating Washington thinktanks and impersonating Friedrich Hayek disciples. This is an alarming development. It must mean they are no longer merely posing as Fabian Socialists in the Democratic Party or Straussians at The Weekly Standard.
To: untrained skeptic
I'm also kind of curious how you expect our government to keep secrets if they point out everything that isn't a secret project?Good point.

I don’t know where I stand on UFOs.
Some of them, obviously, maybe even the largest portion of the sightings can be attributed to explainable phenomena — secret military aircraft, weather balloons, swamp gas, etc. — but there have been too many reported sightings by serious, competent, professional people for me to write off the idea of extra terrestrial visitors.
We currently “know” that the speed of light is an unsurmountable barrier to star travel. But as has been said time and time again, yesterday’s truths are today’s belly laughs. Other folks might have other ideas.
I’ll admit I am hoping the SOL can be beaten. I have been a science fiction fan since I fist stumbled onto a Heinlein in my pre-teen years and have never lost faith in the idea that mankind would eventually reach the stars.
Because of that, I find the idea that another civilization has made it, very appealing.

Cato is probably responding appropriately to a CIA/NSA request not to stir up public interest in this topic. ... or ... the case is entirely the opposite. If the powers that be can create an underground current of people seeing grays behind every action, then they have created the perfect cover for militarizing space, a modern Roswell syndrome.
If you can imagine it, they've already built it. Perhaps we're just being prepped for the upcoming space war.

you can be sure the conspiracy crowd would holler that its not enough. ... and you can bet the security interests will play them like a violin if they can put them to good use. Cuts both ways.

Back in the 1960s I was asssigned to Air Force Office of Scientific Research, in DC. AFOSR was responsible for funding a research project on UFOs, which I thought was badly carried out, but I wasn't in charge, and no one asked me.
During that time there was a Professor McDonald, a meteorology professor university at some university in Arizona. It's been a long time, and I've forgotten his first name and his exact institution. Anyway, he took a year's sabbatical and studied the UFO phenomenon. He became convinced we were visited by extraterristrials. He was scheduled to give a briefing at the Pentagon, and I contrived to have myself invited. I was then a Major, so I sat in the back row, while the 4-stars sat up front.
After he gave his talk, one of the 4-stars asked him, if we are really being visited, why do the UFOs never crash? Why do we never find any wreckage? I still remember his answer. With a bland smile on his face, he said, "Maybe their zero defects program really works." That ended the briefing.

ok, I’m a believer (and I reason to be...), but why the heck would they call for a minister for a crashed alien craf? Thats just nuts.

"Youd think those pesky aliens would learn to land in some other country that wasnt under US Government control where the truth could get out."Stop it! You're starting to make sense.

Given the comments by the retiring head of Lockeed Skunkworks . . .
Your statement is exceedingly plausible, to me.

Yep, that’s where that came from. After we made such a deal of the satellite shoot-down, I realized there’s more and more chatter about space war, so it’s right on the timeline.
The tools and weapons that were developed when I was a youngster are now our current cutting edge stuff... so you can only imagine what’s already in production, and we probably can’t fathom what they have ready to produce.

It also seems to me to be an indication that the aliens clearly have a military-based hierarchy, given the indication of a particular rank.

I don't remember the Bible saying that aliens would have no souls...why make the assumption?

Interesting.
Would you be willing to elaborate with some examples?
Thx.

Scripture does indicate that
ALL CREATION
groans eagerly, yearningly, expectantly, pleadingly
for the manifestation of the sons of God.
IF THIS EARTH
IS
BOOTCAMP
FOR THE TRAINING AND PURIFYING OF FOLKS TO RULE AND REIGN WITH CHRIST OVER COUNTLESS GALAXIES, MULTI-VERSES ETC. . . .
It’s certainly plausible . . .
