“The London-based Al-Hayat newspaper, generally thought to be among the best sources of reliable information in the Arabic language press, reported that Defense Minister Barak had warned Syrian leaders that major new IDF military action was pending against both Lebanese Hizbullah and Palestinian Hamas forces. It claimed he delivered the stark message via Turkish leaders when he met them in Ankara mid-month.

The paper noted that Israel believes both militant Muslim groups have significantly stepped up their own war preparations over the past year while acquiring sophisticated new weapons systems that seriously threaten the Jewish state. Indeed, Barak told a parliamentary committee last August that Hizbullah has more rockets deployed today than it possessed at the start of the 2006 war. Al-Hayat added that he urged Syrian dictator Bashar Assad to move away from supporting Hizbullah militia forces or risk being targeted in the reported upcoming operation.”

Sounds ominous . . .. things are heating up plenty fast this weekend with the Israeli strikes in Gaza. If the Israeli govt starts calling up reserves in the near future I’d say a regional conflict could be right around the corner with all the buzz about Hezbollah/Iran and perhaps even Syria getting in the mix as well

SYRIA has plagued Israel for a long time:

2Ki 13:14 Now when Elisha had fallen sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to him and wept before him, crying, “My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”
2Ki 13:15 And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and arrows.” So he took a bow and arrows.
2Ki 13:16 Then he said to the king of Israel, “Draw the bow,” and he drew it. And Elisha laid his hands on the king’s hands.
2Ki 13:17 And he said, “Open the window eastward,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot,” and he shot. And he said, “The LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them.”
2Ki 13:18 And he said, “Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them.” And he struck three times and stopped.
2Ki 13:19 Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”

Hey guys, this is the real issue in this year’s election:

John McCain offers a “100 year” commitment to our friends in the Arab world, to promote democracy, openness and build a foundation for peace.

Barack Obama says screw you to our friends in the Arab world, we’re gettin’ the hell out of the Middle East and as for those we leave behind, good luck!

Obama’s naivity (or is he so naive?) will result in every major country in the region building nuclear capability, certainly Israel and Saudi Arabia, but probably also Iraq, Egypt and Turkey; and, the prosepct of a nuclear war which may engulf the entire world including us all the way in the western hemisphere.

The Ron Paul/Pat Buchanan neo-America First crowd think we can stay out it, like their predecessors thought we could stay out of the little problems that were developing in central Europe and the Far East during the 1930s.

The looney left wing of the Democratic Party thinks that as soon as we leave the region, the Age of Aquarius will spontaneous break out, with peace, love and understanding, and shiny, happy people. Why, the Middle East will become like Woodstock, a festival of music, free sex and drug expiramentation.

I really don’t know where Barack Obama stands. Is he just playing the looney left wing of the Democratic Party like a fiddle during the primaries, pretending to be one of them? Or, is he really just hiding his true anti-Isreal sentiments (as demonstrated in his church’s embrace of Minister Farrackhan and many private statements he has made over the years)?
