I’m troubled by P.P. so much involved with abortion. They deny that it’s a big focus of their organization. For example, they say how they do pap smears and other health related screenings. They say that they give birth control prescriptions to married women, so that they really aren’t trying to encourage out of wedlock sex activity. They say they give counseling. I guess that to me, an organization that did things like that would be fine if they weren’t also heavily pushing abortion as their biggest focus towards planning for parenthood.

Colgan cited fidelity to his conscience as a major reason for opposing funding to Planned Parenthood.

He might not be the last Democrat on earth with a conscience, but he is certainly the last Democrat on earth to follow one.

Why support the profiteering PP with taxpayer $$ anyway?

Liberals are always pushing their morality on others. Just look at your payroll deductions.

Despite pressure from fellow Democrats, Colgan sided with 19 Republicans, stating, "I ran on a pro-life platform, and most of my constituents are pro-life."

I'm one of those constituents, and it is true he ran on a pro-life platform, and he had the endorsement of the Virginia chapter of National Right-to-life.

The Democrats attacked his Republican opponent for being pro-life during this campaign. Thus showing that Democrats have no real convictions, only the desire for power. They ran anti-pro-life ads against the opponent of a democratic pro-life senator.

That actually made my Democratic senator mad, and it could be that anger that made him do what was right. After all, he also promised to oppose gas tax increases and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, but he ended up voting for both of those.

Cutting funding to Planned Parenthood was a stroke of luck. The irony is that if the GOP still controlled the Va Senate, this would have never happened. The NoVa RINOs who headed the committees would have never let the bill to go thru.

Democrat Sen. Charles J. Colgan's vote in favor of the amendment led to the tie vote, which was decided by the Lt. Governor's vote. Despite pressure from fellow Democrats, Colgan sided with 19 Republicans, stating, "I ran on a pro-life platform, and most of my constituents are pro-life."

A principled politician. That is great. I respect the Virginia legislators who voted to terminate the funding of Planned Parenthood.

One question: why has the Federal Government failed to terminate their funding of Planned Parenthood when Republicans controlled both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate???

Senate Majority Leader Richard L. Saslaw expressed fears that the Wednesday decision will lead to further funding cuts to groups that supply abortion. "Once we start down this road, there will be no stopping," said Saslaw.

Good. It shouldn't even be legal - and certainly shouldn't be financed by taxpayer dollars.

The gummint funds abortion mills offering elective procedures (at a handsome profit that doesn’t go back to the gummint) but it can’t fund health insurance for those who can’t afford it. This is an issue you can drive a MAC truck through, and yet, the Stupid Party remains, well, stupid!

I think that Planned Parenthood also uses taxpayer funds to lobby politicians for abortion. How wicked is THAT???

PP should get NO tax money AT ALL.

(sorry for yelling; well, not really)
