Senate Majority Leader Richard L. Saslaw expressed fears that the Wednesday decision will lead to further funding cuts to groups that supply abortion. "Once we start down this road, there will be no stopping," said Saslaw. That's the idea you idiot.

Got to love that phrasing, “groups that supply abortion.”

, "I ran on a pro-life platform, and most of my constituents are pro-life." Colgan cited fidelity to his conscience as a major reason for opposing funding to Planned Parenthood. Someone just popped to the top of the KOSmunists list...?

Better than nothing. I just want PP to be dissolved, prohibited as a criminal organisation, it’s assests confiscated and the staff arrested for murder.

Excellent news. And Virginia seems to be moving toward the left recently, which makes this all the better.
There are a number of initiatives on foot across the country to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood. Let us hope this will be the first of many such legislative decisions.

The Virginia Senate decided to end taxpayer funding to abortion provider Planned Parenthood on Wednesday. About time. Now it's time for other states to follow suit in defense of the unborn.

If they want to support PP and it’s destruction of babies? Do it with their own contributions and not the government-sanctioned extortion of taxpayer $$. Why support the profiteering PP with taxpayer $$ anyway?

Planned Parenthood admitted that 34 percent of its 2006 income came from taxpayer funding. The organization also reported a $55.8 million profit for the year.
It's not "taxpayer funding," it's government funding.
They suck it out of our wallets, then give it to these scumbags who suck the life out of unborn babies.

I just hope this is not thrown out in the final budget wrangling. PP won’t go quietly and will no doubt try to use the courts to enforce its continued state funding. I hope Virginia, all the other states and the feds have the will to enforce this de-funding of these pagan practitioners of the “barbaric sacrament”.

Colgan cited fidelity to his conscience as a major reason for opposing funding to Planned Parenthood. He might not be the last Democrat on earth with a conscience, but he is certainly the last Democrat on earth to follow one.

Despite pressure from fellow Democrats, Colgan sided with 19 Republicans, stating, "I ran on a pro-life platform, and most of my constituents are pro-life." I'm one of those constituents, and it is true he ran on a pro-life platform, and he had the endorsement of the Virginia chapter of National Right-to-life.
The Democrats attacked his Republican opponent for being pro-life during this campaign. Thus showing that Democrats have no real convictions, only the desire for power. They ran anti-pro-life ads against the opponent of a democratic pro-life senator.
That actually made my Democratic senator mad, and it could be that anger that made him do what was right. After all, he also promised to oppose gas tax increases and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, but he ended up voting for both of those.

Democrat Sen. Charles J. Colgan's vote in favor of the amendment led to the tie vote, which was decided by the Lt. Governor's vote. Despite pressure from fellow Democrats, Colgan sided with 19 Republicans, stating, "I ran on a pro-life platform, and most of my constituents are pro-life."A principled politician. That is great. I respect the Virginia legislators who voted to terminate the funding of Planned Parenthood.
One question: why has the Federal Government failed to terminate their funding of Planned Parenthood when Republicans controlled both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate???
