“An elderly woman who had, um, a gun.”
Is this what passes as journalism today?

"I will show the photos to my wife and children," Svensson told me. "They thought I was on a safe trip." You were safe until you trespassed.

Why does the writer sound surprised about the gun? It’s Texas.

She’s a great example of how the West was won. It’s women like this that caused Wyoming to be known as “The Equality State”.

"What Svensson didn't realize was that he had stopped walking a couple hundred feet away, on the front lawn of an elderly woman." What moron doesn't realize that he's standing on someone's front lawn?
Effin liberals. Try doing that in Harlem, Kosovo, or Iraq.
...and then the moron is upset because the little old lady isn't disarmed?! Like she's supposed to tell some man to leave her property while she's unarmed?!
Effin liberals.

Good for her. I have been down that road to the Presidents ranch and it is pretty remote when you get to the edge of Crawford. I was there when Cindy Shehan and her group were there. I’ll bet this woman had her gun by the front door then too. What she really needs is a dog.

“A Danish journalist came this close to getting shot “
Yet there is no evidence that the woman ever threatened him nor even pointed her gun at him. Nor that she would have. She was probably merely prepared for the possibility that the trespasser might have bad intent.

Applauding the ‘elderly woman’ mainly because I would have and would do the same thing.

According to the article:
“I will show the photos to my wife and children,” Svensson told me. “They thought I was on a safe trip.”
The more idiots like this stay out of America out of fear of the “dangerous citizens” the better.
The Euroweenie didn’t even know the lady had a gun until some other journalist took a picture of it.

Terkel the turkey was surprised about two things. First he wasn’t familiar with the concept of private property. At home he could wander all over someone’s property without being challenged. The fact that he was confronted by an armed person protecting their property further surprised him. Again, something he wouldn’t see at home.

Gun Incident Trespasser repelled near President Bush's ranchThere, fixed it.
I suppose this nit would have just wandered all over Aunt Tillie's petunias yabbling into the cell phone.
Good thing he wasn't driving!

Obviously this didn't happen at nighttime or she might have shot first and warned him after, in accordance with Texas law.
After all, if someone's trespassing in the dark you can't tell if they're armed. Benefit of the doubt goes to the property owner.
