Obama was parroting a BIG LIE. But it is important to remember that he was wildly appauded for this statement. And that no one in the media called him on it.
The statement reflects two important strands of the Michelle/Obama worldview. America sucks and mistreats minorities and America sucks and it is illegitimate for her to defend herself.
What did happen in the wake of 911 was as follows. The ICE requested male 18-35 year old TEMPORARY VISA holders—students, business travelers, tourists—from certain Islamic states to come in for interviews. Since all 19 911 hijackers were on temporary visas this was reasonable and prudent.
No CITIZENS were asked to come in. No IMMMIGRANTS were asked to come in. No FAMILIES were asked to come in. No ONE was ROUNDED UP.
The effort to interview temporary visa holders had only limited success. Most temporary visa holders ignored the request. And when hard pressed federal agents asked for help from the local police, some big city departments, INCLUDING Obomba’s Chicago, refused to cooperate, fearing they would alienate hyphenated -American voters. Daley, who supports Obomba and whom Obomba supported in his most recent election, preferred to risk American lives rather than risk losing Islamic-American voters. These people MUST be defeated.
