Hollywood does this all the time.

I recall there was a sci-fi show called Sliders a few years back that depicted an alternate universe where an evil fascist dictator (overweight and Caucasian) would broadcast from a TV set identical to the one from Rush Limbaugh’s then-TV-show.

IIRC, that episode was one where Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) was the Sherrif of San Francisco in a American Colony that never broke away from England. He was plotting to become king and broadcasting from the set that looked strangely like that of Rush Limbaugh’s TV show.

Another example of media tendencies was on “Your Mama Don’t Dance”. A dancer was surprised to find out her partner would be her father, but she said, “At least, it wasn’t George Bush”.
