Obama's Rezko ties escape national radar

CHICAGO — Four lonesome television cameramen lounged on folding chairs, read newspapers and idly chatted on cell phones in the sprawling marble lobby of the federal courthouse here, hoping to catch the players in the just-underway trial of former Barack Obama fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

The scene was quite a contrast from the circus atmosphere they recalled in the same lobby during the early stages of two other recent high-profile trials — those of former Illinois Gov. George Ryan and newspaper magnate Conrad Black. In each case, about three times as many TV cameramen jockeyed for position with sound men, photographers and reporters, with another media gaggle waiting outside.

“We were tripping all over each other,” one of the cameramen recalled Tuesday, the second day of jury selection in the Rezko trial.

There are a number of reasons why those cases might have garnered more attention than Rezko’s trial. Those defendants were marquee attractions, and Obama is playing only a bit role in this case. Still, his inability to knock out Hillary Rodham Clinton in Tuesday’s primaries will surely provide her campaign with more opportunities to call attention to Obama’s relationship with Rezko.

A few weeks ago, there were TWO DOZEN cameramen set up across the street from my office building in Arlington, Va. To do what? Why, to capture on film, the female lobbyist alleged to have been involved with Senator McCain on something inappropriate.

That was a non-story. There was no “there, there.” But it received tons of attention.

Now look what happens to Obama on this Rezko business.

According to this piece, it’s being treated like a fourth grade field day.

It escapes the media radar because the media’s radar quit working years ago. The media will never denigrate Obama in any way because they’ll be accused of picking on the black man.

In the National Media, yes. The Chicago Tribune has had articles on the Rezko-Obama links for years. National media willfully ignores this story.

Hillary’s Chinese dude kinda raised the bar for getting on the problem fundraiser radar. Fugitive felon found unconscious, wedged in a folded up sleeping bunk on an Amtrak train. Just can’t be topped.

The fix has been in since October that we will get Hussien, Clinton, or McCain. They prefer one of the former so watch the press come out on McCain later this summer and violate him.

Oh I'm sure it'll be reported eventually, too juicy not to - Obama's benefactor borrowed money from someone who was involved in oil for food. Mr. Auchi is a business partner of Syrian-born businessman Antoin "Tony" Rezko, who has supported Mr. Obama financially since his first run for the Illinois state senate in 1996. .... Mr. Auchi was a leading supplier of arms to Saddam's regime.

UK's Times newspaper has run stories on him and Rezko. The Times learned Mr. Rezko received an earlier $3.5 million loan from Mr. Auchi on May 23, 2005, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA.
