I’m looking at alarm systems right now. Do you know if any are better than another?

Alarms are pretty much all the same as long as they are monitored. Spend the extra money to get a panic button you can carry around the house (about the size of a car remote and will work up to about 100 yards).

I’m with wagglebee....get a simple revolver and use Glazer or Corbon ammo....the man killer kind that breaks up nicely or softens out good

Buy in .357 and you can still use a more lady friendly .38 in the same cartridge

just point and shoot....till they don’t get up

my wife and daughters and mom have access to these

go to any gun shop.....buy a Taurus, Rossi, Smith and Wesson or Ruger depending on your budget

then get range time

I’m in Nashville, we’d be glad to help were we closer

Thanks for the advice, we can shoot in our backyard, so I guess I’ll have something else to occupy my time besides this stupid election.

I love shooting my wife’s .357 revolver, I never realized how “different” it was shooting a revolver than a semi. She shot several of them before getting the 7 round S&W 686 Plus with the 3 inch barrel. It’s heavier than the Lady Smith models which is actually better because the extra weight really reduces the recoil.

It took my wife some getting used to, but after a couple weeks she was consistently putting all seven rounds in the black. She carries it everywhere except into court with either Glaser or Federal Hydra-Shok and feels totally safe.

As long as it’s legal, you can safely practice shooting your .22 in your backyard without a lot of concern. Just make sure you have something for the bullet to go into and know what’s behind it. The great thing about a .22 is that you can shoot until your arm is numb and only spend about $10 on the ammo.

I got good news today, my husband is coming home tomorrow, few days early. He has been in union negotiations and they completed after less than two days, a new record.

That’s good news. You should try to find some time to go to a range and try to get a feel for a revolver that you will be comfortable with.

I’m signed up for a class in April, just for women. They are going to have us try out all sorts of guns and find out what we are comfortable with, and then have classes in how to use one properly.

Last night my dog went nuts in the middle of night and I got out my little 22, but it was probably just a coyote because I didn’t find any signs that anyone had been out there. The guy used to always leave something behind to let me know that he had been there. Terrorizing me was part of the fun.

Another option you may want to consider is a short-barrel shotgun. Aiming is not nearly as important and that might help in a panic situation.

The amnesty for Vietnam deserters has worked out so well.
