I have always been against the 15 month tours - particularly when they were made as extensions to a tour in progress.

I understand the need for the troops on the ground, but it strikes me as a breach of faith by the army with the soldiers and their families to make them stay gone that long.

As far as I can tell, the Marine Corps' 7 month tour rotation is working well with minimal effect on the families.

If the army isn't big enough, then we need a bigger army, IMHO.
