How do you react when you go to the grocery store and they have changed the packaging of your favorite cereal? If you are like me you look and look and finally give up and grab a different brand. :-)

I really like the changes, but the one thing I don’t like at all is that now it seems like I can only see the headers when I search for comments.

Where are Recent Hopes? Don’t forget about that; it would be a cynicism.

FWIW, I like it.

WIW = not much, since criticizing it would be akin to coming into your house and slagging the decor, which is rude so I wouldn’t do so.

But at any rate, I like it.

Looks awfully slick, I’ll tell you that! Nice work. As for the rest of the changes, I’ll render an opinion in a day or two, but I doubt you’ll hear me complain.

I kinda like it. RSS feeds are good. Like the tabbed presentation. Not sure what to make of the upper right corner, but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

I’d like to do a search of the forums by either date and keyword instead of the new system.

I need to sleep on it. It is a bit disconcerting at first.

I like the tabs. But this past week when I hit “View Replies”, if there were no replies to a post I did not get the “No replies” screen but rather a reload of the previous page.

I think you have done a great job.

I think the changes are significant improvements.

I’d encourage you to ignore the naysayers. ALL CHANGE is troublesome at first. Learning new routes, ways, clicks can be troublesome for folks who are fanatics about NO CHANGES or who merely like their comfort zones undisturbed.

However, a month or 3 later, they would likely not like to go back to the old.

I think the majority will appreciate the changes. They may be a silent majority, I don’t know. It often seems like the complainers are the louder types.

A lot of us enjoy, appreciate, find useful the #of views item. IF AND WHEN it’s convenient to bring that back—WONDERFUL. And, please—to make it available on the COMMENTS page at least, if possible.

Is there any thought to giving a preview pane for the FREEPMAIL listing? I’d be willing to delete a LOT of FREEPMAILS if I could quickly determine what sort they were of. There’s some real treasures in there I’d hate to lose. But a LOT are inconsequential. But opening everyone to tell if I can delete it takes tons and tons of time.

Your tireless efforts over the years hereon are GREATLY appreciated. You are so tireless in the background with little praise and even conscious appreciation on the part of so many, it seems. But also, those of us who’ve been around a long time and many others REALLY DO KNOW SOMETHING of your efforts and greatly appreciate them.

I’ve also found, observed that your judgments in these matters are amongst the best I’ve ever observed on the web or on any large computer system.

Many computer techy sorts are horrible at being perceptive about people and their ‘human factors’ use of the system. However, you are one of the best on human factors perceptiveness. I’ve always appreciated that.

I think in general, MORE OPTIONS are better for pleasing the widest numbers of personality types. I think you realize that.

But then, IIRC, that conflicts with tight code and easy efficient system management.

It seems to me that you strike a wonderful balance between those to year after year with year after year improvements. No small feat, imho.

I tend to prefer the cleaner, more white space, simpler format you’ve recently given us. I know others like to have either the whole posts or the first paragraph or so in the post listing. I hope such options are still available.

Regardless, I LOVE THE SIMPLER, CLEANER pages. And the tabs you just recently added are great.

There was a problem finding a button to click to post a new thread in say Religion. But it’s there in any thread in the religion forum so it’s no big problem. Either way or both is OK with me.

In any case . . . please accept vigorous virtual pats on the back for all you do and all you’ve recently done.

THANKS TONS.

Sincerely,

LUB,
BLPH,
Qx

Will there ever be a “hit counter” again on threads to see how many individuals have read that particular story?

FRiends, this is your site. I am your guest.

With all due respect, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I appreciate FR. It’s my very favorite site on the web.

I appreciate how hard you work.

If you were to change it back to how it was, that would be okay with me. But if you want to have it this new way, then I’ll try to get used to it.

Either way, you are a great influence on FReedom.

Thanks again,
Your FRiend,
Joya

I have always used the slave or daughter window option when I click on an article. That still works on the main part of the page, but it has been broken if you click on the titles posted on the right side of the page, under Breaking News, etc.

If possible, I’d like to see that restored, so you also get a daughter window when you click on the right side.

Oh, and does the search function work yet or is it broken like it was on the old version? :D
