Gentle persuasion is needed to allow you to see the reality to which you are somehow blinded.

You don't get it. My goals are long term. My long term desire for liberty is not furthered by electing a traitor short term. My long term goals for the Republican brand name do not include shipping bad product short term.

You did not, moreover, follow the thread. John McCain has no credibility on the war front. He was the spoiled child of an admiral who managed to get himself captured, and in the contemporary war he has a problem defining the enemy, as does GWB. If you want to win the war, declare it against Muslims, bomb Mecca, deport American Muslims, and send over Christian missionaries and Bibles. Short of that, you're just being frivolous with American life.

“Restricting free speech through McCain-Feingold, advancing the fallacy of global warming through Lieberman-McCain and supporting amnesty for illegal aliens that endangers the lives of Americans and will ultimately destroy this country are hardy minor points of dogma. That is socialist type thinking.”

I guess we could add to above, gang of 14 to control SCOTUS and other judge-ships, Keating 5, voting against tax cuts,..
no attempt to overturn the loss of private property rights

Able Danger swept under the rug and Curt Weldon defeated

Sandy Berger as good an example of the Elites protecting their own. wheres McCain on that?
Face it people the Government is under control of those

Exactly. Another party will restore the two party system.

All we hear lately is about the fact that the new GOP is going to be moderates, independents and Hispanics. Supposedly conservatives are being told to shape up or take a hike.

I happen to enjoy hiking, this new relegated to irrelevant status, has offered me a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the feeling of the freedom you can have when you are a maverick!

********************

LOL! We may all be taking a hike after election day, since the chances are good we're going to have a Democrat in office.

McCain needs money. Obama raised more money in February than McCain has TOTAL in the election so far through the end of January.

He's crawling to us hat in hand. I hope our leaders extract their pound of flesh.

I'll know if I can support McCain when I see who his running mate is.

I made my point and that's that. You can interpret it any way you want. My grandma always said "don't get into a spraying contest with Pepe Le Pew" and I have no intention of doing so.

the words that many are not ready for and after 100 yrs of 2 major parties many of us are conditioned to believe that the constitution mandated 2 parties and that there can be no other system..well with what the 2 current parties have brought us I am now ready to think of the unthinkable ..we need a 3rd party and one that is about preserving the freedoms of our constitution and the bill of rights.

You know, rational thinking tells us that the way the GOP is moving is going to send us to the Hinterlands.

These reactions should be no surprise to anyone at all. I believe it is best to let people vent and let the chips fall where they may.

The outcome will be interesting, or totally disasterous.

We shall see.

Actually, it has reached the stage where we have run out of choices. We have to go with the candidate closest to our beliefs. Since we have 0% in common with Hillary! and Obama, and maybe 10-25% in common with McQueeg, we have to drink the KoolAid and go with McQueeg.
If we were not in a wartime situation, I'd say “skip the presidential line on the ballot” and let the Republican Party consider its errors in exile, but we ARE at war and need a leader with at least SOME commitment to the war. McQueeg, regrettably, IS that candidate.

I myself just resigned from being a very active member of the Republican party and intend to make it official next week.

I had been the GOP’s campaign chair here in Sussex county Delaware and volunteered one day a week in the GOP Georgetown office. So I was out there and I participated in all the fundaraisers, yada, yada.

Now that I’ve freed myself, and yes I sure did tell them why...I’m so happy I could sing and dance.

You’re right. Being a Maverick is a wonderful thing! It’s so nice not to be told to walk the line, hide your discontent and you’re right again in that obviously McCain doesn’t care about conservatives.

McCain has that right and he might get elected by pulling in disenchanted Dems and moderates to replace the conservative disgruntled he’ll lose. But yeah, the pubbies are telling the conservatives to go take a hike.

Lookit, I think the majority of the people in this country live their lives conservatively. I believe a decent leader would be...well...LEADING comes to mind.

but it’s no mind. I can accept the obvious. McCain nor the GOP wants us anymore. We are a thorn in their side.

Maybe they’re right.

We shall see. Meanwhile, real conservatives ought to consider tossing off the mantle of guilt laid on them by Republicans who want to get elected.

It’s the greatest feeling in the world.

You bring up a very important point.

I’m very open-minded to supporting Mccain, however unethusiastically, depending on his VP candidate. For if McCain nominates a conservative, whatever that is and I’ll know it when I see it, I’m open to supporting him.

Why is it that I think McCain will pee upon our feet yet again and tell us it’s raining?

But let the record show that I have an open mind.

I wish it had not come to this. I am afraid we are facing tough times, regardless of which party gains the White House. I have no problem with all of us speaking our minds about McCain, in fact, I think it’s important that we all do so. Although I see myself most likely voting for him in November, just a short time ago I was refusing to vote for him, largely because of his history with regard to amnesty/the border/illegals. Those issues remain.

Gawd love ya.

Another thing, the people pushing McCain so hard, and those that sold out so quickly, have a great deal of trouble understanding that the elections are a long way off yet. Much can happen.

Conservatives do not like McCain and want some concessions from him before they would consider voting for him. If that is possible. You know, many are not willing to have relations before the wedding. LOL

They just can’t see that. I totally agree with your post.;)

I believe that the push to force people into acceptance too quickly is a big mistake. I myself, can’t see myself voting for him.

I know he needs money, but I doubt he will get much from people who really would rather not vote for him. We are in for some tough times ahead. I don’t think the quality of many of the people in Washington is the type that will be up for the task. That is the most frightening.

This outcome was obviously planned for awhile and it does not bode well.

Interesting that you complain about insults and hate - but you are so quick to insult and hate.

I’ve said for the past 18 months or longer, I can understand why Americans can believe we are not in a war. President Bush has not been fighting this war to win, he has not been acting as if we are in a war. It starts at the top.

It's been longer than that.

W had am amazing opportunity to mobilize the nation after 9/11. We would have pulled together, done anything he asked.

He asked us to go shopping.

Very disappointing.

The only point you made is that you like to complain and whine about those of us who fail your Republican loyalty test.

Once he chooses a VP, support for him will likely either dramatically increase or decrease. It's crucial to his campaign that his choice will appear to address some of the criticisms of conservatives.

I am waiting for McCain do say or do something to woo conservatives. Too date, I all have seen is sycophants telling us how we must support him, or else.

I may change my mind and vote for him in November, but first, I need to see something from the candidate to give me a reason. McCain himself acknowledges the rift between himself and conservatives, yet he has done nothing yet to begin to heal the rift.

In this case, he would be showing some wisdom by picking a conservative and doing it ASAP.

But as you know, he is McCain, I look for him to poke another finger in our eye.

I hope I am wrong, but a leopard can't change his spots. LOL
