Unfortunately, it isn’t just the unions affected by the loss of this contract. The small businesses those union workers spend their money with are also hurt as are their employees and the people they spend money with. This will ripple through an already slowed economy.

It will also hurt Boeing’s suppliers and their employees and the people they spend money with. Those people who work for Boeing suppliers in 40 states could be the difference between him winning in November and not winning, especially if some of the base stays home, votes third party, or leaves the President line blank in November.

You pull out a small percentage of the conservative vote and a small percentage of the moderate union vote and you have a Democrat victory.

This could sink him if the Democrats play it right.

I live down here in Mobile and believe me we are just as American, if not more so, then those folks in WA.....Every expert that looked at the competition says it was fair, open and honest and boo hoo, boeing thought being the pocket of all of pols would get the contract, no questions asked! It’s getting a whole lot tiresome to keep hearing these folks trash us here in AL...heck, even the NYT came out in support of NG-EADS....saying the american war fighter deserves the best that $ can buy....

watch out common sense like that will get the McCainiaks
in a huffy mood. Some have already spun it to be a gain for American workers because a few jobs land in Their state.
Ask GM and Ford and the late American motors what those plants in the south building toyotas did to the economy of the Mid West.
I must admit I do not want a SINGLE AMERICAN JOB outsourced
period. The Destruction of our Manufacturing base has gone far enough. McCain has been a big part of shipping of our good jobs overseas..and this is being pointed out by Dems or Unions so what IT IS TRUE.

Good analysis... I've no doubt that some idiots in Boeing did bribe some idiots in Washington. The really sad thing is they shouldn't have to give bribes, they make a superior product and have been the savior to the US balance of payments for years. But hey, so what that Americans lose their jobs, so what that a European group, funded by France and other governments get our tax money. So what that the product will be inferior...we sure showed big bad old Boeing. And if anyone on this thread doesn't think the Euro weenies didn't cross some Washington palms on this one, well I think that big ole bridge in Brooklyn is still for sale. Thinking this was an above board deal without a little sugar for the politicians is about like thinking the Kennedy's really pay taxes. It just don't happen folks.

The primary contractor is NGC, not EADS. EADS North America is supplying the airframe, but even the airframe is being built in Alabama.

NGC is claiming that this win will employ 48,000 people in direct and indirect jobs in the United States. This isn't a foreign built aircraft.

Boeing and the Democrats are spinning about 90% lies and 10% truth.

This might even bring some commercial A330 assembly business to the United States, since American labor is cheaper than European, and they are assembling commercial A330s, and then transferring them to a NGC facility to convert them into military tankers.
