President Bush on Saturday further cemented his legacy of fighting for strong executive powers, using his veto to shut down a congressional effort to limit the Central Intelligence Agencys latitude to subject terrorism suspects to harsh interrogation techniques that are prohibited by the military and law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Bush vetoed a bill that would have explicitly prohibited the agency from using such interrogation methods, which include waterboarding, a technique in which restrained prisoners are threatened with drowning and that has been the subject of intense criticism at home and abroad.
Mr. Bushs veto deepens his battle with increasingly assertive Democrats in Congress over issues at the heart of his legacy. As his presidency winds down, he has made it clear he does not intend to bend in this or other confrontations with Congress on issues from the war in Iraq to contempt charges against his chief of staff, Joshua B. Bolten, and former counsel, Harriet E. Miers.

A major characteristic of liberals/Democrats/Communists/Socialists/racists - they are typically angry people.
It’s the NYT...get with the socialist program. Anything that embarrases or makes us look weak, they are sure to print it.
I knew that when Bushy vetoed the waterboarding bill that the tinfoil hat army will go ape shiite.
The Democrats are just posturing here for the benefit of their base, they knew the veto was coming.
Seems like a good time for the GOP to make political hay on the issue of national security, and explain this issue to the electorate as well as get the liberals “on the record” with their votes.
Too bad El Presidente wasn’t able to find that veto pen back when McCain-Feingold was crossing his desk.
So he’s for water boarding but not for drilling in ANWAR when oil’s at $105/bbl...
Once again congress has our backs in the fight against subhumans and thier culture of death. The lunacy in this country has gone far beyond the logic of normal thinking people. There is a person at your front door with a gun who says he will kill you and everyone in your family, you open the door and invite him in so you can talk about what he is about to do. Simply mind boggling! Liberalism is truely a mental disorder!
The next President will sign it.
Fur Shur, the New York Times is weak on national security.
